This Latin rock original for beginning groups is based on the chord changes to Song For My Father by Horace Silver. The brass ranges are very accessible with trumpet up to G5, and F4 for trombone. Rhythm section parts provide the drummer with a great concept of what to play, and notated piano voicings and bass lines are provided. The solo section is written out with solo sheets provided in all keys along with scales to assist students in improvisation. Featuring Kendor Konvertible scoring for 9-17 players, each set includes a guitar chord chart by Jim Greeson and optional flute, clarinet, horn in F, tuba and vibes parts. Duration 4:35.

Recor ded by Buddy Rich on his Roar Of '74 album, the success of this bright Latin/swing classic by Horace Silver depends heavily on the ability of the rhythm section to play the ostinato with confidence, precision and momentum. While the main solo work here goes to tenor and trumpet, the drummer punctuates the shout chorus with a series of short solos, then gets a wide-open chance to solo just before the final band chord. Rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued. Duration 3:30.

In Horace Silver's own words, this sassy, bluesy shuffle with a bebop-style melody portrays a mythical man of rather dubious character. An alto, trumpet and trombone trio give the opening and closing presentations of the theme, and each of those players carries a full-length solo chorus in between. A sustained band chord with ad lib flourishes by the trio brings everything to a dramatic, satisfying close. Rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued. Duration 5:40.
