Ainsi à l exception des récitatifs la Cantate BWV 207a reprend le tissu musical de la Cantate BWV 207 elle-même fortement inspirée des oncertos brandebourgeois La Cantate BWV 207a est une œuvre datée de 1735 et dédiée à Auguste III roi de Pologne et prince électeur de Saxe. Jean-Sébastien Bach a composé plusieurs œuvres pour le nouveau souverain en appui à sa candidature au poste de compositeur de la Cour titre honorifique qu Auguste III lui accordera finalement en 1736.Si le texte de la cantate est un rien obséquieux la musique est festive et exploite les couleurs luxuriantes de l'orchestration.
