Franz Schubert: Schubert - Piano Trio in B-flat Major Op. 99: Violin Solo:

Franz Schubert's scherzos were right at the beginning of a development that, in the course of the 19th century, resulted in the separation of the scherzo from the sonata and its emancipation as an independent piano piece. These traces become apparent in the three pieces compiled in this volume: the two popular Scherzos in B flat major and D flat major (D 593) and the Scherzo in D major (D 570) which has survived, together with an allegro fragment, in the composer's autograph. With its pleasantly flowing melody, its typically Schubertian harmony and the modest technical demands, this piece might soon outrank its well-known sister work in B flat major. / Piano

Volume 9 of the new Urtext edition of Schubert'''s lieder contains lieder composed during the spring and summer of 1816 some of which follow upon series started in 1815. They are available in separate books for high medium and low voice. The volume was completed by the eminent Schubert scholar Walter D'rr who passed away at the beginning of 2018.It was in 1816 that Schubert completed his settings of Ossian's songs and added lieder on texts by Johann Georg Jacobi Johann Peter Uz and Matthias Claudius. Also included are the lieder from the Grob family songbook. The most famous of the fantasies, the 'Wanderer Fantasy?, now appears in a separate edition.While Schubert was playing the Wanderer Fantasy for a circle of friends, he faltered and exclaimed impatiently: The Devil should play this stuff!?Yet it wasn't the Devil but Liszt - like Schumann a great admirer of the piece - who later arranged the 'Wanderer Fantasy? for piano and orchestra and again for two pianos. Volume Three includes the final four of his twelve fantastic Sonatas as well as several unfinished pieces. All composed between 1815 and 1828 these range from popular favourites to mere fragments only a few bars long. Even in the earliest of thesesonatas Schubert demonstrates his compositional poeticism sensitivity and skill in the romantic idiom. For a broad scope of emotion and feeling they are second only to Beethovenâ??s sonatas.

Ainsi, la mélodie de «La Truite», lied composé en 1817, lui servit-elle de thème pour les variations de son quintette pour piano, violon, alto, violoncelle et contrebasse D 667 qui reste l’une des oeuvres les plus populaires de toute la musique de chambre. La tonalité solaire de la pièce – beaucoup plus gaie que les autres oeuvres de musique de chambre de Schubert – semble faire écho au bonheur de l’été 1819. Schubert composa cette pièce à 22 ans alors qu’il venait de passer l’été en compagnie agréable à Steyr, en Haute-Autriche. La présente édition Urtext se conforme pour l’essentiel à la premièreédition viennoise, vraisemblablement la version originale du manuscrit autographe aujourd’hui disparu. Elle prend également en compte l’unique source manuscrite de cette oeuvre, une copie réalisée par un ami de Schubert, Albert Stadler. Ausgabe für Violoncello. Par SCHUBERT FRANZ. Une bonne intention n’est jamais assez bonne (d’après Kurt Tucholsky): l’Arpeggione, cette sorte d’hybride – une grande guitare frottée par un archet – n’a jamais réussi à s’imposer auprès des musiciens. Cette curiosité organologique serait certainement déjà tombée depuis longtemps dans l’oubli le plus total si précisément Franz Schubert n’avait pas composé sa sonate en La mineur pour cet instrument. Et cette oeuvre en trois mouvements est vraiment immortelle. Mais elle pose aussi un problème pour l’Urtext, car sans certaines interventions dans le texte, la partie d’arpeggione originale ne pourrait être exécutée sur l’instrument le plus proche au niveau du timbre, àsavoir l’alto ou le violoncelle. La maison d’édition G. Henle résout ainsi le dilemme: d’une part, la partie d’arpeggione originale est superposée à la partie de piano originale (partition), de l’autre, dans la partie séparée jointe à la partition les rares changements d’octaves indispensables sont clairement indiqués. Il était hors de question pour nous d’envisager une autre partie – le violon par exemple (comme dans l’édition Diabelli parue après la mort du compositeur), la flûte ou tout autre instrument mélodique à tessiture aiguë – car toutes ces alternatives s’écartent trop des représentations de timbre que pouvait avoir Schubert. Franz Schubert wrote his Arpeggione Sonata for piano and arpeggione, a hybrid instrument that was part guitar, part violoncello and fashionable at that time. The version for violin and piano has survived in a manuscript of parts from the days of Schubert which has become accessible only recently and is quite a sensation in the early 19th-century violin repertoire. The edition follows, for the most part, the text of Schubert's extant autograph and the contemporary violin part. / Violon Et Piano
