Composer and organist Joseph Bonnet (1884-1944) is considered one of the most major French Pipe Organ players. It is no surprise therefore that his Variations De Concert for Organ are very well informed. Following his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bonnet took over as concert organist at the institution. Variations De Concert for Organ was compiled in 1906 soon after his graduation. The work begins with a helpful index of the Organ registrations and performance directions. Variations De Concert begins with a virtuosic cadenza-like theme in E minor. Followingthis four variations are heard all containing contrast in Organ sound tonality and exploited melody and rhythm. For all advanced aspiring organists Bonnet's Variations De Concert is an essential addition to the repertoire.

Born in 1982 Jean-Charles Gandrille had composed his first work by age 10. As a prolific organist Gandrille composed significantly for his instrument  Reflets being no exception. Reflets won Gandrille first prize at the Composition Competition of the Comminges Festival in 2006. With a typical performance lasting around 15 minutes  Reflets is a highly modern work. Night on Bald Mountain is one of the best-known works of 19th century Russian programme music in the world. Songs of Praise for Organ by television music composer Herbert Chappell was commissioned by the BBC in 1980 as the signature theme for the long running television programme of the same name and continued to be used until the late 1980s. This piece is lively toccata underpinned by a hymn-like melody and is suitable for organists of moderate abilities and may be used as a thrilling recital piece. 'I decided it should be a lively toccata; this I underpinned with a broad-shouldered hymn-like melody rather than a choral. It was recorded for television by Simon Preston at the organ of Christ Church Oxford and quickly became somethingif a favourite with organists all around the world (possibly because it sounds impressively virtuostic and makes a lot of noise but is not that difficult to play). For example it brought a spirited conclusion to the service that celebrated with a pack congregation the life of Dame Thora Hird for so many years the presenter of the programme on BBC television.' Throughout the years the sound of the trumpet has been symbolic of great entrances and celebrations. That sound is featured in this work and may be played by the organist or a trumpet soloist. For this Organ concluding voluntary Hugh Blair choose two carols that sound authentically old and one A Virgin Unspotted which dates from the 17th century. The short piece includes a delightful reworking of God Rest You Merry Gentlemen and a gently rocking Good King Wenceslas in 6/8. Hugh Blair was an English Organist conductor and composer of some perspicacity. Elgar’s cantata The Black Knight is dedicated to Blair who conducted its first performance in 1893 during the time when Elgar was gradually building his reputation through the Midlands Choral festivals. He also asked the composer to write an Organ voluntary to whichElgar responded with his first Organ Sonata. Blair is best known for his Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis which are still performed.
