The period of intensive preparation, the mixture of trepidation and joyful anticipation, the concentration during the performance, the applause of the audience and the pride after the successful performance. Such impressions will all stick in the pupil's mind and quite often influence his or her entire future development. The choice of the 'right' performance piece is of vital importance: It should be neither too long nor too short, make a strong impression and give great pleasure in practising. The edition My First Concert includes 25 easy and appealing pieces for descant recorder and piano ranging across five centuries; most of these are original recorder pieces, along with a few arrangements. Sonata no. 2 in g minor op. 117 for Violoncello and Piano-In contrast to the first cello sonata (HN 1357) composed four years earlier this substantially more catchy and playful second sonata enjoyed great success with audiences and critics right from the start. Friend and associate Vincent d???Indy wrote to Faur? the day after the premiere in May 1922: I would like to tell you how much I am still charmed by your so beautiful sonata. In it I found what is seemingly forgotten these days: music.??? It therefore comes as no surprise that the sonata rapidly found its way into the concert repertoire where it maintains an uncontested position to this today. The duo David Geringas and Markus Bellheim provided fingerings.

Besides popular and well-known sonatas by Corelli, Vivaldi, Handel and Telemann there are also delightful less familiar compositions by Dall'Abaco, Pepusch and Finger, among others. All these pieces are at lower to intermediate level. Some of them can be played in first position throughout, while others require just a few position changes, but the sonatas by Dall'Abaco, Kirchhoff, Vivaldi and Handel require fluent use of the first three positions. Il est d'autant plus surprenant, donc, que jusqu'à présent il n'y a pas eu édition Urtext de ces travaux importants.Le score est basé sur une première édition supervisée par Corelli lui-même. D'après ce que nous savons de la performance en temps de Corelli, cependant, était plusattend de la violoniste qu'une lecture musicale de la partition imprimée: il était d'usage d'ajouter des ornements à la limite de l'improvisation, avec l'embellissement et 'variations' comme vous le souhaitez. The Flute sonata in G minor BWV 1020 one of the gems of 18th century Flute literature has been passed down to us over the years as a work of Johann Sebastian Bach but its authenticity is disputed. Recent research suggests that the composition most probably came from the pen of Bach’s oldest son Carl Philipp Emanuel. This new edition is an extract from the Bärenreiter edition BA 5220 which also includes the two Flute sonatas BWV 1033 in C major and BWV 1031 in E-flat major which are of similarly doubtful authenticity. The sonata in G minor has been edited by the renowned Bachscholar Alfred Dürr using the editorial guidelines of the New Bach Edition as a basis and it appears now for the first time as a separate performing edition.
