Six Recorder Sonatas. At the beginning of the 18th century, the recorder enjoyed great popularity as a solo instrument for amateurs. Among these were also the princesses of the English court, for whose musical entertainment and training Handel?s six recorder sonatas were probably written in 1725/26. Only four of them appeared shortly thereafter in print and thus also reached a broader audience; the other two were first discovered for the recorder in the 20th century. Thanks to their melodic and rhythmic incisiveness, the pieces, whose recorder parts are relatively easily mastered, number among the most beautiful written for this instrument. Owing to wide-ranging bass lines and copious figures, the continuo instrument requires a rather well-versed player. In the score of the Urtext edition, Ullrich Scheideler provides a moderate continuo realisation; the additionally available performance score (HN 1574) with figured basso part offers the advanced musician latitude for his/her own improvisation.

As early as the age of four Mozart amazed his father with his quickness of mind...(+)
As early as the age of four Mozart amazed his father with his quickness of mind as regards Piano-playing. The first works are easy dance movements by the five-year-old who developed with extraordinary speed. During his lifetime he created several Piano pieces apart from the sonatas and variations. The pieces from his youth most of them written down in the music book for Maria Anna Mozart and in the so-called London sketch book are mostly short dance movements but there are already lengthy individual movements as well. From the mid-1770s there are mainly larger individual works including fantasias and rondos which can stand as equals to the sonatas andvariations of the Viennese period.Volume 2 contains the mature works from the later years of composition including the popular fantasias and rondos as well as several sonata form drafts completed by comtemporaries of Mozart. In addition the present edition contains solo piano versions of the Concert Rondo K 382 the rondo from the Duo for Violin and Viola K 423 as well as the overture of the 'Abduction from the Seraglio'.

Werke von 1961 bis 1979-The pieces in this edition are in a chronological and stylistic order. Fünf Stücke (1961) Triade (1962) and Elegie (1967) which Silvestrov retrospectively describes as 'lyrische Dodekaphonie' were composed in a short period inwhere he learned the musical language of the 20th century. The following sonatas (I-III 1972 1975 1979) are characterized - as per Silvestrov 'Identität der Stile'. The piano cycle Kitschmusik (1977) is one of the mostimpressive reference to his 'metaphorischen Stils' (V. Silvestrov). Irrespective of the different phases all pieces show his unique thinking and writing process. It is expressed in nuances of agogicism dynamics and tempi. Thepedal needs particular attention - the composer was convinced that it creates an overtone. Pieces from the 60s were reviewed and given with typical notes - just like Silvestrovs later period - for ex. 'leggero' 'dolce'as well a additional tempi dynamic- and pedal-instructions.Inhalt Sonata Nr. 1 (1972)Sonata Nr. 2 (1975)Sonata Nr. 3 (1979) (all three sonatas have been revised by the composer in1999)Fünf Stücke (1961; rev. 1999)Triade (1962; rev. 1999)Elegie (1967; rev. 1999)'Kitschmusik' (1977)

Italian composer Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) is well-known for his Keyboard compositions. His 555 Keyboard Sonatas remain ever popular to this day and it is for this reason that this fifth volume is indispensable to performers of the genre. Originally composed for the Harpsichord Organ or early Pianoforte the Sonatas display the riveting use of discords and unconventional modulations to remote keys. It is also thought that much of Scarlatti's Keyboard music contains influences of Iberian music considering that he spent much of his working life in the service of the Spanish and Portuguese royal families. The fifth volume comprising Sonatas 206-255 includes many of the popular and recognised Sonatas in a variety of keys. Bearing in mind that Domenico Scarlatti was a highly competent and popular Keyboard player in his day so much so that he was employed in the service of two royal families his Sonatas are composed with much experience understanding and expertise creating an essential addition to the repertoire of all Keyboard players of the Baroque genre.

Alessandro Scarlatti (1660 – 1725) was an Italian Baroque composer especially famous for his operas and chamber cantatas. He is even considered the founder of the Neapolitan school of opera. Scarlatti's music forms an important link between the early Baroque Italian vocal styles of the 17th century with their centres in Florence Venice and Rome and the Classical school of the 18th century. His legacy was carried further by his two composer sons Domenico Scarlatti and Pietro Filippo Scarlatti. Three Sonatas For Double Bass are slightly simplified in this arrangement to be tackled by intermediate players (Grade 4-6) of the DoubleBass and the Piano. The Baroque tunes and rhythms will help to advance playing abilities in a highly enjoyable way.
