James Meredith draws from his many years of experience teaching middle school bands to provide us with a piece that will highlight the strengths of a young group and work well to teach the fundamentals of marching styles. Magic March is a regal, original piece that is a refreshing change from traditional American style marches. This would be an excellent choice for a festival.

Franz Schubert's Mass in G major is one of the most popular settings of the mass ordinary: the charming song-like melodic writing, especially in the Kyrie and the Credo, forms a magical counterpoint to more concertante passages in the Gloria and the Sanctus. For a long time it was thought that Schubert's final version was scored for purely string orchestra, whilst a version with wind, brass, and timpani was thought to be an expanded orchestration by his brother Ferdinand Schubert. However, since the mid-1990s it has been known that the parts for trumpets and timpani were additionally composed by Franz Schubert himself for use ad libitum. The present edition offers this Klosterneuburg Version - with trumpets and timpani ad libitum, but without Ferdinand's wind parts - in an Urtext edition reflecting Schubert's own intended orchestration. This work is available in carus music, the choir app! Score and part available separately - see item CA.4067500.

Cast a spell up and down the fingerboard as fingers add and subtract. A strong string march rhythm provides structure and drive as young players practice beginning finger patterns! March of the Mathemagicians can be played by first year players who have mastered the D Major scale and all notes are in first position with no high 3s or forward extensions. With the exception of a few notes on the G in the basses, all sections use only the D and A strings. Each section has the opportunity to play the very easy melody. This catchy, toe-tapping tune is readily accessible for first year players and will be a highlight of any concert.

Brahms's First String Sextet became very popular after its publication in 1861, yet his publisher Simrock still hesitated when the composer offered him a second such work in 1865, “in the same cheerful mood.” So Brahms made overtures to other publishers, and then Simrock finally agreed to take it on. The critics were initially rather skeptical towards this Sextet op. 36, but Brahms's friends thoroughly approved of it. Clara Schumann praised its accomplished motivic work, while others enthused about its magical sound colors. This practical edition by Katrin Eich, based on the Brahms Complete Edition, now offers performers the opportunity to form their own opinion, whether in performance or by perusing our study edition. The parts include player-friendly cue notes and have excellent page-turns.
