The hymn Nun ruhen alle Walder (Now All Forests Rest), arranged by J.S. Bach (No. 6, So sei nun, Seele, deine, from Cantata BWV 13), is a guiding light throughout this four-movement composition. Pütz wrote this work as a musical outcry against the wilful, profit-driven destruction of our environment. When Bach used the word ruhen (to rest) over 350 years ago, it probably had a different nuance from the meaning it has today. At the beginning of the 21st century - the so-called age of progress - nun ruhen alle Walder should mean now all forests die . Massive industrialization and globalization, coupled with pure greed, corruption, political scandals, an ever-wideninggap between the rich and poor, and other such senseless human actions, are pushing our blue planet closer and closer to the point of no return. This work is not intended to be a ranting accusation. It should remind us of the beauty and harmony that can exist all around us in nature, if we take care of it. Pütz hopes that this will, one day, help put a greater emphasis on humanity's survival, and coexistence with nature rather than the exploitation described earlier. All four texts were created by Australian poet Graeme King, whose works were discovered by Pütz, by chance on the internet. Pütz was especially captivated by King's clarity, and intrigued by the possibilities of adapting and melding the strong rhythmical structure of King's writing with his own musical language. The four movements are as follows: 1. Tears of Nature 2. Grrrevolution 3. Stand up! 4. Tomorrow The world premiere of Four Earth Songs took place on 7 July 2009 at the 14th WASBE-Conference in Cincinnati (USA). This work is dedicated in friendship to Jouke Hoekstra, conductor, and the Frysk Fanfare Orkest (the Frisian Fanfare-Orchestra).

De hymne Nun ruhen alle Walder, gearrangeerd door J.S. Bach (nr. 6, So sei nun, Seele, deine, uit cantate BWV 13), is de leidraad in deze vierdelige compositie. Putz schreef het werk als een muzikaal protest tegen de moedwillige,op winstbejag gebaseerde vernietiging van ons milieu. Toen Bach het woord 'ruhen' (rusten) meer dan 350 jaar geleden gebruikte, lag er waarschijnlijk een andere nuance in dan tegenwoordig. Aan het begin van de 21e eeuw - dezogenaamde eeuw van de vooruitgang - zou 'nun ruhen alle Walder' zelfs kunnen betekenen: 'nu sterven alle bossen'. De grootschalige industrialisatie en globalisering, in combinatie met pure hebzucht, corruptie, politieke schandalen,een groeiende kloof tussen arm en rijk, en andere dwaze menselijke verrichtingen, brengen onze blauwe planeet steeds verder in de problemen, tot er misschien geen weg terug meer is. Dit werk is niet bedoeld als een beschuldigendetirade. Het moet ons wijzen op de schoonheid en harmonie die in de natuur om ons heen kan bestaan, als we er goed voor zorgen. Putz hoopt dat er op een dag meer nadruk gelegd zal worden op het overleven van de mensheid invreedzame co-existentie met de natuur, zonder de eerdergenoemde uitbuiting. Alle vier de teksten zijn geschreven door de Australische dichter Graeme King, wiens werk Putz bij toeval tegenkwam op het internet. Hij werd getroffendoor Kings helderheid en raakte geintrigeerd door de mogelijkheid de sterke ritmische structuur van Kings teksten om te zetten in zijn eigen muzikale taal. Bach (Nr. 6 So sei nun, Seele, deine aus der Kantate BWV 13), zieht sich wie ein roter Faden durch diese viersatzige Komposition, die als musikalischer Aufschrei (Anfang!) gegen die mutwillige, profitgesteuerte Zerstorung unserer Umwelt gedacht ist. Sicher hatte das Wort ruhen vor über 350 Jahren, als der Liedtext entstand, eine andere Bedeutung als heute. Zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts, im sogenannten Zeitalter des Fortschritts, müsste es leider wohl eher heissen: Nun sterben alle Walder... Massive Industrialisierung, Globalisierung, aber auch Profitgier, Korruption, politische Unfahigkeit,krasse Unterschiede zwischen arm und reich, und schlussendlich die Uneinsichtigkeit des einzelnen Menschen haben dazu geführt, dass der Blaue Planet heute kurz vor dem Kollaps steht. Dieses Werk soll jedoch nicht nur anklagen, es soll auch die verbliebenen Schonheiten unserer Natur aufzeigen, in der Hoffnung, dass es einmal gelingen wird, die Rettung der Natur und den Schutz der Umwelt über die oben genannten Interessen zu stellen. Alle vier Texte stammen aus der Feder des australischen Dichters Graeme King, dessen Werk der Komponist durch einen glücklichen Zufall im Internet entdeckte. Besonders inspirierend war die Direktheit von Graemes Aussagen, aber auch die kraftvolle Rhythmik seiner Verse mit den daraus resultierenden Moglichkeiten der musikalischen Umsetzung. Die vier Satze sind wie folgt überschrieben: 1. Tears of Nature 2. Grrrevolution 3. Stand up! 4. Tomorrow Die offizielle Uraufführung von Four Earth Songs fand am 7. Juli 2009 statt, anlasslich der 14. WASBE-Konferenz in Cincinnati (USA). Das Werk ist dem Dirigenten Jouke Hoekstra und dem Frysk Fanfare Orkest (Friesischen Fanfareorchester) in aller Freundschaft gewidmet.

Le cantique Nun ruhen alle Walder, dont la ligne melodique fut reprise par Jean-Sebastien Bach pour son choral So sein nun, Seele, deine (Choral ndeg6 - Cantate BWV 13), est le fil conducteur de cette oeuvre en quatre mouvements concue comme un cri contre la destruction volontaire de la nature pour le profit. Plus de trois siecles nous separent du temps de Bach. Si les mots sont restes les memes, leur sens primitif connait cependant quelques nuances. Ainsi, au XXIe siecle - considere comme le << siecle du progres >>, il conviendrait de traduire Nun ruhen alle Walder (les forets se reposent ) par Les forets se meurent. La mondialisation et l'industrialisation massiveassociees a l'avidite predatrice, a la corruption politique, aux actions humaines irrationnelles et au fosse grandissant entre riches et pauvres conduisent notre planete bleue a se rapprocher chaque jour un peu plus du point de non retour. Cette composition n'est pas une accusation acerbe, mais plutot une exhortation a prendre soin de cette beaute si harmonieuse que nous offre la nature. Et peut-etre, prendrons-nous enfin conscience de l'importance d'une situation de coexistence avec la nature, necessaire pour la survie de l'espece humaine, et non d'exploitation qui conduit a la destruction. Un jour, alors qu'il naviguait sur Internet, Marco Pütz decouvrit l'oeuvre du poete australien Graeme King. Fascine par la clarte de l'ecriture et le rythme des vers, Marco Pütz imagina les multiples possibilites d'adaptation et de mise en musique qu'offrent les poemes de King. Il choisit quatre poemes sur la nature pour creer son oeuvre Four Earth Songs (Quatre chants de la terre). 1. Tears of Nature (Les larmes de la Nature) 2. Grrrevolution 3. Stand up! (Levez-vous !) 4. Tomorrow (Demain) Four Earth Songs est dedie amicalement a l'Orchestre de Fanfare de Frise (Frysk Fanfare Orkest) et a son chef, Jouke Hoekstra. L'oeuvre a ete donnee en creation mondiale par l'orchestre dedicataire a l'occasion de la 14eme Convention de la WASBE a Cincinnati aux.

Claude Debussy wrote his two books of piano Preludes late in life, between 1909 and 1913. The 12 short pieces in each book display a rich variety of styles, moods and emotions ? almost a summing up of his compositional output ? and each has its own evocative title. The Girl with the Flaxen Hair is the 8th Prelude in the 1st book and popular for its emotional depth, despite its technical and harmonic simplicity. De twaalf korte stukken in elk boek bevatten een rijke variatie aan stijlen, stemmingen en emoties. The Girl with theFlaxen Hair (La fille au cheveux de lin) is de achtste prelude uit het eerste boek, ze is geliefd vanwege de emotionele diepgang in de muziek, ondanks de technische en harmonische eenvoud. We weten niet wie het meisje in kwestiewas, maar deze mooie miniatuur roept levensechte beelden op.

The Girl with the Flaxen Hair ist ein Präludium des französischen Komponisten Claude Debussy und berühmt für seine emotionale Tiefe, trotz seiner technischen und harmonischen Schlichtheit. Wer das im Titel genannte Mädchen mit dem flachsfarbenen Haar war, ist nicht bekannt, aber diese wunderschöne Miniatur lässt sehr lebendige Bilder vor dem inneren Auge entstehen. Bewegend!

Composés entre 1909 et 1912, les deux livres de Préludes pour Piano comptent parmi les œuvres tardives de Claude Debussy (1862-1918). Chacune des vingt-quatre compositions - douze par livre - porte un titre évocateur. Elles révèlent une grande diversité de styles, de textures, de climats et d’émotions, et constituent un condensé de toutes les particularités du langage du musicien. Debussy a pris soin de n'indiquer les titres qu'en fin de morceau, de façon permettre chacun de découvrir ses impressions propres sans être influencé par des images ou poèmes existants. Le terme « impressionniste » prend ici tout son sens.La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin est lehuitième prélude du premier livre. Il est célèbre pour sa profondeur émotionnelle malgré sa simplicité technique et harmonique. Nul ne sait qui fut la fille aux cheveux de lin, mais cette miniature merveilleusement subtile réveille notre imaginaire.

Ne a Caen en 1968, Eric Tanguy est a ce jour l'un des compositeurs francais de sa generation les plus joues et diffuses a travers le monde. Ne en 1968 et elu compositeur de l'annee par les Victoires de la musique classique 2004 et 2008, Eric Tanguy asuivi l'enseignement d'Horatiu Radulescu, puis celui d'Ivo Malec et de Gerard Grisey et Betsy Jolas au Conservatoire national superieur de musique de Paris (Prix de composition en 1991).

En novembre 2012, il a recu le Grand prix de la SACEMpour sa carriere et en novembre 2014 le Grand prix Lyceen des compositeurs.Les oeuvres de son catalogue,quatre-vingt-dix pieces, du solo jusqu'aux concertos, pieces vocales et symphoniques - figurentau repertoire des interpretes majeurs de notre temps.

In 1989, the demonstration named the Baltic Way also known as the Baltic Chain— was held in the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania by its citizens in a call for independence from the Soviet Union. On 23rd August 1989, some two million participants formed a human chain, hand-in-hand all the way from the Estonian capital of Tallinn its Latvian counterpart, Riga, through to the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius - six hundred kilometres long. It became the longest human chain ever created and turned out to be the final push needed for much sought-after independence. This historic event became the source of inspiration for this composition. The introduction of thefirst movement, ‘Struggle for Independence’, is based on a nocturne for piano by the renowned Lithuanian composer and painter Mikalojus Konstantinas iurlionis (1875-1911), thematic material from which has been incorporated throughout the whole composition. The melancholic beginning is followed by a powerful theme which reflects the resolve of the Baltic people. The sudden aggressive, dissonant chords and a dominant and—in rhythmic terms—contrary bass drum announce that the resistance is not going smoothly. Just for a moment, we hear the anthem of the Soviet Union in the lower brass, but this is relentlessly pushed to the background by the rest of the band playing the Lithuanian national anthem, ‘Tautiška giesm ’ (Lithuania, our homeland). The second movement, ‘Decades of Suffering’, echoes life under the Soviet Union's thumb. In the pursuit of independence, a peaceful protest is planned in which a human chain is formed across the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. This ‘Chain of Freedom’ is depicted in the final movement of the work.

De Baltische Weg (The Baltic Way) was een demonstratie van de bevolking van de Baltische staten die in 1989 plaatsvond als een roep om onafhankelijkheid van de Sovjet-Unie. Deze historische gebeurtenis vormde de inspiratiebron voor deze compositie. Van Vilnius via Riga naar Tallinn werd een zeshonderd kilometer lange keten van naar schatting twee miljoen mensen gevormd. Op 23 augustus 1989 gaven al die mensen elkaar de hand en werd De Baltische Weg de langste menselijke keten ooit. Het bleek de uiteindelijke opmaat tot de zo gewenste onafhankelijkheid. De inleiding van het eerste deel, ‘Struggle for Independence’, is gebaseerd op een nocturne voor piano van devooraanstaande Litouwse componist en kunstschilder Mikalojus Konstantinas iurlionis (1875-1911). Het thematische materiaal van deze nocturne is door de hele compositie heen verwerkt. Na het melancholische begin volgt een krachtig thema, waarmee de strijdbaarheid van de Baltische bevolking wordt uitgebeeld. De plotselinge agressieve dissonante akkoorden en een dominante en ritmisch gezien tegendraadse grote trom laten horen dat het verzet niet eenvoudig verloopt. Even klinkt het begin van het volkslied van de Sovjet-Unie in het lage koper, maar dat wordt door de rest van de band onverbiddelijk naar de achtergrond verwezen door het Litouwse nationale volkslied ‘Tautiška giesm ’ (Litouwen, ons vaderland). In deel twee, ‘Decades of Suffering’, wordt het leven onder het juk van de Sovjet-Unie verklankt. In het streven naar onafhankelijkheid worden plannen gemaakt om als vreedzaam protest tegen de onderdrukking een menselijke keten te vormen over de wegen van de Baltische staten Litouwen, Letland en Estland. Deze ‘Chain of Freedom’ wordt in het laatste deel van het werk muzikaal weergegeven.

Die längste Menschenkette, die jemals geschaffen wurde, erwies sich als der letzte Schritt, der zur lang ersehnten Unabhängigkeit führte. Für einen kurzen Moment erklingt die Hymne der Sowjetunion in den tiefen Blechbläsern, aber diese wird unerbittlich vom restlichen Orchester in den Hintergrund gedrängt, welches die litauische Nationalhymne Tautiška giesm “ (Litauen, unser Heimatland“) spielt. Der zweite Satz, Decades of Suffering“, spiegelt das Leben unter dem Joch der Sowjetunion wider. Für das Streben nach Unabhängigkeit war ein friedlicher Protest geplant, bei dem eine Menschenkette durch die baltischen Staaten Estland, Lettland und Litauen gebildet wurde. En 1989, la manifestation nommée « La Voie balte » (The Baltic Way) s’est tenue en Estonie, en Lettonie et en Lituanie, les pays baltes dont les citoyens demandaient être indépendants de l’Union soviétique. Le 23 ao t 1989, quelque deux millions de personnes se tenant par la main ont formé une chaîne humaine de 600 km de long reliant les trois capitales Tallinn (Estonie), Riga (Lettonie) et Vilnius (Lituanie). Cette chaîne humaine, la plus longue ce jour, donna une impulsion décisive au rétablissement d’une indépendance vivement souhaitée. Cet événement historique est devenu source d’inspiration pour cette composition. L’introduction du premier mouvement,« Struggle for Independence », est fondée sur un nocturne pour piano du célèbre compositeur et peintre letton Mikalojus Konstantinas iurlionis (1875-1911). Du matériel thématique emprunté ce nocturne est parsemé travers la présente composition. Un début mélancolique est suivi d’un thème puissant qui reflète la détermination des peuples baltes. La présence soudaine d’accords agressifs et dissonants, associés une grosse caisse dont le décalage rythmique domine, indiquent que la résistance rencontre des obstacles. Nous entendons momentanément l’hymne soviétique dans les cuivres graves, mais cet air est inexorablement repoussé l’arrière-plan par le reste de l’orchestre interprétant l’hymne national de Lettonie, « Tautiška giesm » (Lettonie, notre patrie). Le deuxième mouvement, « Decades of Suffering », dépeint la vie sous le joug de l’Union soviétique. la recherche de l’indépendance, une manifestation pacifique est organisée sous la forme d’une chaîne humaine traversant les trois pays baltes l ’Estonie, la Lettonie et la Lituanie. Le dernier mouvement de la pièce, « Chain of Freedom », exprime cet appel la liberté.

Composed by Paul Raphael, Explorers on the Moon, the sequel to his 2017 work Destination Moon, was composed in 2019 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Moon Landings. It is inspired by the Belgian author Hergé and his most famous creation, Tintin. The music uses Hergé’s story from 1950 almost twenty years prior to the first ever moon landing - following Tintin and his fellow adventurers as they become the first humans on the Moon. This fantastic piece is split into three parts, titled ‘Space’, ‘Nightmare Land’ and ‘The Journey Home’ and is one of the most spectacular contest pieces in recent years.

Explorers on the Moon is een vervolg op Paul Raphaels eerdere werk Destination Moon uit 2017. Het werd in 2019 gecomponeerd ter gelegenheid van de vijftigste gedenkdag van de maanlanding in 1969. De inspiratiebron was Kuifje de beroemdste creatie van de Belgische auteur en striptekenaar Georges Remi, die bekender is onder zijn pseudoniem Hergé. Het uitgangspunt voor de muziek is diens verhaal uit 1950 waarin Kuifje en zijn medeavonturiers de maan bezoeken, bijna twintig jaar voor de eerste échte maanlanding. Dit fantastische werk, dat uit drie delen ‘Space’, ‘Nightmare Land’ en ‘The Journey Home’ bestaat, is een van de meest spectaculaire wedstrijdwerken uitrecente jaren.

Explorers on the Moon, komponiert von Paul Raphael, entstand 2019 anlässlich des 50. Jahrestages der Mondlandung (1969) und ist die Fortsetzung seines 2017 erschienenen Werkes Destination Moon. Das Stück wurde von dem belgischen Autor Hergé und seiner berühmtesten Erfindung, Tim und Struppi, inspiriert. Die Musik orientiert sich an Hergés Geschichte aus dem Jahr 1950, in der Tim und seine Begleiter als erste Menschen den Mond betreten fast zwanzig Jahre vor der ersten Mondlandung. Dieses fantastische Stück besteht aus drei Sätzen: Space“, Nightmare Land“ und The Journey Home“. Es zählt zu den spektakulärsten Wettbewerbsstücken der letzten Jahre.

Écrite par Paul Raphael en 2019 pour marquer le 50e anniversaire des premiers hommes sur la lune, en 1969, Explorers on the Moon fait suite Destination Moon, du même compositeur. Cette nouvelle œuvre s’inspire de l’auteur belge Hergé et de sa création la plus célèbre, Tintin. La musique est fondée sur l’histoire de On a marché sur la Lune, qui fait suite Objectif Lune, histoire écrite en 1950 anticipant la réalité de près de vingt ans , qui raconte l’aventure de Tintin et de ses compagnons sur notre satellite. Cette œuvre remarquable en trois mouvements (« Space », « Nightmare Land » et « The Journey Home ») est une des pièces de concours les plusspectaculaires de ces dernières années.
