Eight pieces in one 'Spanish Suite' from Spanish pianist and composer Isaac Albeniz who was born in 1860 and as a child prodigy gave his first public concert on the piano at the tender age of 4. At the beginning of the 1880s he met the musicologist Felipe Pedrell who collected traditional songs and this awakened in the young Albeniz a life-long passion for Spanish traditional music. The pieces collected in LA FLAUTA ROMANTICA were written by three of the greatest Spanish instrumental virtuosi of their time: the pianists Isaac Albéniz and Enrique Granados as well as the violinist Pablo de Sarasate. When transcribing their piecesthe aim was to both create convincing chamber music works for flute and to preserve the typical Spanish sound idiom of this music. The CD provides demo tracks as well as the accompaniments of each piece.

He passed the Piano entrance exam for the Paris Conservatoire at age seven, but he was refused entry due to his young age. He composed many works containing Spanish influence, Three Pieces for Saxophone Quartet being no exception. When he was 16, Albéniz studied at the Leipzig Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. His concert career saw him perform all over the world. The Three Pieces are, 1) Love Song, 2) Berceuse, and 3) Summer. This collection, adapted for Saxophone Quartet by Marcel Mule is a sublime addition to the ensemble's repertoire. â€.

Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909) wrote his suite España (Espagna), Op. 165, also known as Seis Hojas de Album (Six Album Leaves) for piano in 1889, with the first performance taking place on June 7th of the following year, at the Steinway Hall in London. Each of the six movements recreates a traditional Spanish dance or evokes Spanish folk music. Famed American violinist, composer, and pedagogue Samuel Dushkin completed this arrangement for violin and piano that included three of the movements: 1. Malagueña, 2. Canción Catalan (or Capricho Catalan), 3. Tango. The middle movement is here presented alone. Reprint edition.

The arrangement of Sevilla by Isaac Albéniz is notated one whole tone lower than the original version. It can be performed as a quintet but also in a choral/orchestral instrumentation. In the latter case, the middle part with the soprano saxophone solo is recommended to be executed by five soloists. For saxophone quintet (SAATB).
