Diplômé du conservatoire de Toulouse de 1982 ŕ 1985 (1er prix de saxophone, 1er prix de musique de chambre, prix de perfectionnement de saxophone, 1er prix d'harmonie, 1er prix de contrepoint, 2čme prix de solfčge), il poursuit des études de composition de musique de films ŕ l'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, avec Antoine Duhamel et Laurent Petitgirard, entre 1987 et 1988. De 1986 ŕ 1992, il exerce en temps que professeur de saxophone, de musique de chambre, d'harmonie et de contrepoint au conservatoire d'Andorre la Vieille (Principauté d'Andorre). Il joue en parallčle dans le quatuor de saxophones Tetrasax de 1981 ŕ 1990, puis de 1989 ŕ 1993, avec le Jazz Time Big-Band, dirigé par Richard Calléja. Il rejoint le grand orchestre de René Coll en 1992, en temps que saxophoniste arrangeur, et compositeur. Il réalise des orchestrations pour de nombreuses émissions de télévision (Sacrée Soirée, les Années Tubes, FaSiLa Chanter, Vivement Dimanche, les 25 ans du Loto, Prima Dona, Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde, Music-hall et Compagnie, les émissions pour l'élection de Miss-France de 1996 ŕ 2003), sur des compositions originales de Vladimir Cosma, Gérard Presgurvic, Richard Sanderson, Gilles Arcens, etc. Il travaille en étroite collaboration avec Patrick Sébastien depuis 1998 : co-compositions et arrangements de ses chansons, réalisation de tous ses albums, composition de ses génériques de ses émissions télévisées, mise en forme et orchestration de ses spectacles et tours de chants, accompagnement sur scčne en tournée dans toute la France et dans les grandes salles parisiennes (Olympia, Palais des Congrčs, etc.). Durant sa carričre, il a accompagné de nombreux artistes dont J. Hallyday, F. Pagny, Barry White, N. Croisille, S. Distel, H. Salvador, Maurane, V. Samson, S. Lama, C. Aznavour, G. Lenorman, D. Briand, Adamo, Dave, H. Léonard, L. Fabian, E. Macias, M. Delpech, J. Montagné, Garou, Nadya. George Gershwin???s music combines musical styles heard in the United States at the beginning of this century such as jazz and blues with aspects of European classical music. Gershwin???s breakthrough came in 1924 with Rhapsody in Blue. Following several versions of this piece Gershwin made what is probably the best known arrangement - for piano and symphony orchestra. Takahashi has created a further new and exciting version for wind orchestra.

The attacks in Brussels on 22 March 2016 created a shockwave throughout Belgium and the rest of the world. Equally the attacks in Paris and Nice led to great public indignation fear and disbelief.What has happened to the western world? Have our cultures grown apart to such an extent that we do not understand each other anymore? Bert Appermont’s intention was to voice certain emotions that these acts of terror have caused: particularly fear grief anger and helplessness. He uses the French children’s song Au Claire de la Lune as a connecting thread throughout the work.This piece is also about hope and faith in another world andis meant to pay homage to all victims resulting in a dignified remembrance. The musical development is presented in four through-composed parts titled Innocence  In Cold Blood  In Memoriam – We Shall Rise Again and A New Day.This work was commissioned by the Brassband Oberösterreich (Brass Band Upper Austria) to be played at the European Brass Band Championships 2017.

A Flourish For Orchestra was written to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the granting of a Charter to the City of Bristol. It was first performed by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in the Colston Hall Bristol on 26th September 1973.

In 1921 Holst was commissioned to write a piece without much notice for a dance company in Chicago however the piece was never performed despite Holst's unsucessful attempts.

And Do They Do was commissioned by Siobhan Davies and the London Contemporary Dance Theatre. It was composed during the summer of 1986 and first performed at Sadler's Wells Theatre on 25 November in that year. It consistsof four linked 'songs' of which the third is based on Schumann's 'Nachtlied' Opus 96 No. 1.

This is the full score of Aheym For Orchestra composed by Bryce Dessner best known as the guitarist of The National but also an acclaimed composer in his own right.   If sodesired this work can be performed with Strings alone: the Wind and Percussion instruments are optional. Composed in 2009 for the Kronos Quartet for their performance in Brooklyn's Prospect Park for the CelebrateBrooklyn! festival Aheym (meaning 'homeward' in Yiddish) was directly inspired by his parents' migration to Brooklyn. The score in this edition was first performed by the London Sinfonietta at the Southbank Centre in London onthe 9th of October 2012. The work lasts around 8 minutes and is filled with dynamic tempo changes a mix of staccato and smooth playing and all-round excitement. It's a fantastic piece to play and the genius composition will keepaudiences on their toes.
