Tue music in ILLUMINATIONS sometimes sounds like glitteringreflections sometimes like a roaring bonfire. The absence of ordinary flutes in the orchestra further enables the soloist to shine above a darker orchestral background. The bass clarinet part is provided here for solely acoustic performances as an alternative to using the backing track. The speakers face the audience and the instrumentalists are carried by the backing. The flute players do not need any microphones.
