for Violin and Piano. Par MENDELSSOHN-BARTHOLDY FELIX. The Scherzo is a movement by Felix Mendelssohn from the incidental music to the play by William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The play inspired Mendelssohn to compose the music because it was a childhood favorite. There are two works by Mendelssohn called A Midsummer Night's Dream; the Overture composed in 1826 and the Incidental Music added in 1842. The Scherzo was originally scored for orchestra. The brilliant transcription for violin and piano is by Willy Burmester. / Date parution : 2025-03-25/ Répertoire / Violon et Accompagnement

for Violin and Piano. Par MAHLER GUSTAV. The Adagietto is the 4th movement of Gustav Mahlers (1860-1911) FIFTH SYMPHONY, written in 1901-1902. It is Mahler's most popular work, often performed separately from the symphony. This incredibly expressive piece of music was a love song to his future wife Alma, and is eminently suitable for solo violin with piano accompaniment. Otto Winterbecher, a disciple of Mahler, created this transcription. / Date parution : 2025-03-25/ Répertoire / Violon et Accompagnement

for String Quartet. Par BAKER CLAUDE. A VOICE PASSES provides musical commentary on three haiku by the 19th-century poet Masaoka Shiki and one by the legendary master he most admired, Yosa Buson. Stricken with tuberculosis and addicted to morphine in the later years of his short life, Shiki wrote a large number of haiku that dealt with the pain and suffering caused by his illness. Of these, many were at the same time infused with humor and optimism. The haiku selected by the composer as the programmatic bases of the individual movements are laid out in a four-seasons sequence and progress from the despair and resignation of summer to the hopefulness and vibrancy of spring - a not-so-subtle metaphor for the progression of the recent pandemic. In addition to the textual inspiration, each movement is structured around a well-known composition that echoes the spirit and content of the haiku. / Date parution : 2025-03-25/ Répertoire / Quatuor à Cordes

for Piano and String Quintet. Par . “Einstein wrote in his journals that relativity came to him first in a kind of dream state, and that once the details of the dreamed images appeared to group themselves, he considered that to be thinking. So he wrote that dreaming and then thinking is the essence of the creative process, and it seems that his definition of thinking is the organization of dreamed images, whatever form those images may take. I have long thought this to be the case for creativity in general, and it seems to describe my own experience in composing. I used the terms 'dreaming and thinking' to describe creativity in the second edition of my book The Mind's Ear before I came across Einstein's journal on the subject.” - Bruce Adolphe / Date parution : 2025-03-25/ Répertoire / Quintette pour Pianos

Full Score. Par WALKER GEORGE. Lyric for Strings was composed in 1946 and was originally the second movement of my first string quartet. After a brief introduction, the principal theme that permeates the entire work is introduced by the first violins. A static interlude is followed by successive imitations of the theme that lead to an intense climax. The final section of the work presents a somewhat more animated statement of the same thematic material. The coda recalls the quiet interlude that appeared earlier. - George Walker / Date parution : 2025-03-25/ Répertoire / Cordes (Ensemble)

for Woodwind Quintet and Quartet of Strings. Par . Please note: this item will be printed at the time of ordering and will ship as soon as possible, usually within 2-3 weeks. Composed in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the Summer Music Camp for Can't-Get-Enough-Chamber-Music Aficionados, aka the Chamber Music Conference and Composers' Forum of the East, Camera Oscura explores musical kernels imbedded in the names of some of Donald Crockett's favorite composers in the rich history of chamber music, though the musical evocations are based on the names, not their styles. In addition to the noisy fanfares introduced by the traditional nonet (woodwind quintet, plus a quartet of strings: violin, viola, cello and bass), there are smaller combinations based on iconic pieces in the repertory, for example, oboe quartet, clarinet quintet, Schubert octet, woodwind quintet, string trio, etc.Movements: I. Fanfares, II. Songs, III. Scherzo, IV. Lament / Date parution : 2024-06-01/ Répertoire / Quintette de Bois et Quatuor à Cordes

SATB and Cello (Full Score and Cello Part). Par ADOLPHE BRUCE. Written for the Chapel Choir of University College, Oxford, Giles Underwood, Director of Music. This setting of Pireeni Sundaralingam's poem LOT'S WIVES (about the Sri Lankan Civil War that took place between 1983-2009) was written in June of 2023, during the war between Russia and Ukraine and four months before the escalation between Israel and Palestine. Bruce Adolphe describes the work: As a composer, I was drawn to the way the poem looks back in time as the women look back on destruction, creating a temporal counterpoint of past and present. To set these words, I combined the sorrowful lyricism of looking back to the past with the fierce dissonance of present violence. The cello plays several roles: it triggers memory; it comments on the text and on the music that is sung; it provides accompaniment. / Date parution : 2024-06-01/ Répertoire / Chœur SATB et Violoncelle

for Piano and Orchestra Full Score. Par LECUONA ERNESTO. Rapsodia Argentina is based on traditional older Argentinian tangos, the most famous being_x001A_Buenos Aires,_x001A_which is heard at the outset. The whole piece is a kind of huge rondo and is divided into several sections, most of which recur during the course of the composition. One of them is a milonga, a native peasant dance of Argentina (and Bolivia) that is a variation of the tango. Rapsodia Argentina is probably the least known of the three rapsodias for piano and orchestra by Lecuona. For sale is the solo piano part. It is not a 2-piano version or a piano reduction. The solo part matches the available orchestration as arranged and recorded by Thomas Tirino. / Date parution : 2023-06-01/ Répertoire / Piano et Orchestre
