Costa Del Sol (Coast of the Sun) creates a musical panorama of the beautiful Mediterranean coastline of the Málaga province in southern Spain. Based upon series of chord progressions common to generations of Spanish flamenco guitarist, David Shaffer has crafted a spirited and beautiful setting of three authentic Spanish folk dance forms, the Corrida, Jota and the Fandango. This energetic and captivating composition opens with a fiery statement reminiscent of the traditional Spanish bullfights. A quick folk dance in þ (Jota) follows, utilizing traditional Spanish percussion. The middle section is introduced with a lush alto saxophone solo leading into a lyrical folk dance (Fandango). The fiery Jota returns in two separate but distinct forms to conclude the piece. An excellent contest piece, Costa Del Sol will captivate your audiences with the beautiful imagery of the Spanish countryside.

Zu Klaus Ospalds ,,Klavierquintett (1994) und ,,El sol no nos recuerde (1996) fur zwei Gitarren, Saarbrucken: Pfau 1998 (= Fragmen, Heft 24)World premiere: Darmstadt, August 9, 1996.

DIE NEUE GITARRENSCHULE by Heinz Teuchert is one of the most successful methods for classical guitar in German. Since it was first published in 1983, the guitar technique has evolved in many respects so that the need of a revised edition has become more and more evident. Prof. Michael Koch has taken up this mission and now presents the revised method in two volumes: the texts, parts of the playing material, and the appearance of the books have been modernized while preserving Teuchertââ¬â¢s methodical approach and the underlying structure of the method. One of its strengths is the diversity in terms of playing techniques and musical styles not only solo playing but also fingerpicking styles, flamenco techniques, and song accompaniment are taught. The BOOK CD AUDIO ONLINE packs also feature demonstration and play-along recordings of many pieces included in the books.DIE NEUE GITARRENSCHULE von Heinz Teuchert gilt als Standardwerk unter den deutschsprachigen Lehrbüchern für klassische Gitarre.

Flamenco is an art form involving highly dramatic music and dance. The form is strongly associated with the Andalusia region of southern Spain. Its actual origins are less clear, though historians theorize that gypsies brought the predecessors of flamenco to the region as they migrated from India prior to the 15th century. The form took on traits from cultures that the gypsies encountered in Andalusia, including Spanish, Sephardic, Islamic, and Moorish musical traditions. Over the centuries, Spain's ruling classes undertook systematic persecutions of populations who did not agree with their religious ideals, forcing gypsies to take refuge in Andalusia's isolated mountain regions to survive. Not surprisingly, the topics of the gypsies' songs frequently touch on longing, despair, rage, anguish, and hope.Suenos de Flamenco (Flamenco Dreams) portrays a young gypsy couple who dance the flamenco with great longing, passion, and vigor. The piece was commissioned by Duo Montagnard (Joseph Murphy, saxophone, and Matthew Slotkin, guitar). In 2020, I made new editions of the piece for clarinet and guitar, and flute and guitar.Flamenco is an art form involving highly dramatic music and dance. The title Fanmi Imèn is Haitian Creole for Maya Angelouââ¬â¢s famous work, Human Family. Both the musical and literary poems acknowledge differences within mankind due to ethnicity, background, and geography, but Angelouââ¬â¢s refrain: ââ¬Åwe are more alike, my friends, than we are unalikeââ¬Â, reaffirms our humanity as a reminder of unity. Colemanââ¬â¢s work draws inspiration from French flute music blended with an underlying pentatonicism found in Asian traditions, a caravan through Middle Eastern parts of the world merging with Flamenco, and an upbeat journey southward into Africa with the sounds of Kalimba (thumb piano). Fanmi Imèn was commissioned by the National Flute Association for its 2018 High School Soloist Competition.
