Henry Purcell (1659-1695) held numerous appointments at the Royal Court and Westminster Abbey and is considered by many to be the greatest ever English-born composer. His prolific work covered all fields: orchestral ecclesiastical operatic theatrical incidental and chamber music were all enriched by his output. Written in 1683 Welcome To All The Pleasure (Z339) is the first of the three Odes that Purcell wrote for St Cecilia's Day. It was commissioned by the London Music Society for their first festival and sets a poem by Christopher Fishburn. It is scored for SATB Chorus; Alto Tenor and Bass soloists; and Strings.

Par DVORAK ANTONIN. Antonin Dvorák?s impressive Stabat Mater for soloists, chorus and orchestra is probably the best-known of the composer?s sacred works. Some painful experiences in 1875 his first daughter died, and in 1877 he lost two other children in quick succession may have led to Dvorák?s preoccupation with the suffering of the Mother of God, who stands weeping beneath the cross of her son. The music enters into the different moods of the liturgical texts with great sensitivity. Nine movements in slow to moderate tempi serve as a kind of Passion meditation, before the ecstasy of a vision of the resurrection wins the upper hand at the end of the tenth movement. With our newly-publishedarrangement for chamber orchestra (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon, timpani, and strings), smaller choirs now have the opportunity of performing this work without the choir being drowned out by a large-scale symphony orchestra. The symphonic character of the work is nevertheless preserved. This scoring offers an optimal balance between transparency and orchestral sound. All vocal parts (soloists and chorus) are identical with the original version. Klavierauszug-Vivaldi's Credo for SATB and Piano.The Credo belongs to that large group of church works which Vivaldi composed in Venice between 1713 and 1717 for the Ospedale della Piet then his primary place of employment. The composition conceived solely for choir and strings is characterized by a two-layered formal design: a continuous basic motivic idea i.e. a constant rhythmic impulse with rapid tone repetition builds an instrumental layer while on the other hand the writing for choir renders the text in a blocklike structure in chordal declamation. This structure will only be abandoned briefly in the concluding section of work where the text 'Et vitam venturisaeculi' is embedded in a concise fugue.
