Nicola Porpora (1686-1768) was a Neopolitan composer and singing teacher. A rival of Handel, he formed an opera company which performed his own compositions all over Europe. He was widely acclaimed during his lifetime both as a composer and also as a pedagogue, counting Haydn among his students. Regrettably, most of his compositions have largely fallen into obscurity since his death.
Credidi Propter is a setting of Psalm 116, originally for SSAA Upper Voice Choir, Strings and Organ Continuo, with optional Viola part. It has been edited by D. E. Hyde, and arranged with Piano accompaniment.

Now available for SSAA voices! The first movement of Craig Courtney’s trilogy, Divine Encounter, is a song in which God invites us to receive His bounty. The first verse of Isaiah 55 is expressed as a celebration rather than the meditative, lyric manner found in most settings. In contrast, the setting of the sixth verse is regal, earnest and authoritative and the architecture of the movement is built upon the contrast between these two styles. Suitable for use on its own, or as part of the three-movement work; effective in both worship and concert settings. Scored for SSAA chorus and organ (in choral score) or piano (available separately) with optional brass sextet, or string quartet, or full orchestra. An accompaniment track (brass and organ) is also available.ChurchScripture reference: Isaiah.

Scored for SSAA choir and organ (in choral score) or piano (available separately) with optional brass sextet, or string quartet, or full orchestra.  This French impressionistic and contemplative work, “In paradisum†(May the angels lead you into paradise ), was added to the original Requiem by Fauré in 1893. The original 1888 version was heard in Paris in a funeral Mass at La Madeleine with Fauré playing the organ. The text refers to the miracle of eternal rest (“aeternam habeas requiemâ€). In this edition for treble voices, listeners can hear the continuous fluttering of angel’s wings in the keyboard against the beautifully melodic, mostly unison vocal lines sung by the choir. The rich D major harmonies are developed toward the end of both verses and, finally, in the ending invitation to have eternal rest. About the Series: Doreen Rao, 2019 Robert Shaw Award recipient, launches her culturally inclusive choral series, Global Encounters for Young Voices, featuring accessible treble- and mixed-voice works for developing choirs.
