He is founder and director of the Berlin Bach Akademie and has made a name for himself with his numerous arrangements of works from Bach to Schubert.

The ?Petite Messe Solennelle? is the finest work of Rossini?s late years. He composed it between 1863 and 1864 at the age of 71 as a commission for Countess Louise Pillet-Will for the consecration of her private chapel where the work received its first performance in March 1864. Together with the ?Stabat mater? the mass is one of the composer?s most important sacred works.The unusual instrumentation with two Pianos and Harmonium is entirely in keeping with the Neapolitan Keyboard tradition of the 18th century which was cultivated in France in Rossini?s day. It forms a distinct contrast to the style of large-scale sacred compositionsas written by for example Liszt and Bruckner. Rossini explained that he wrote the later Orchestral version of the work dating from 1867 out of concern that if he did not do this other composers might orchestrate the mass too heavily in later arrangements.The Piano reduction by Andreas Köhs is extremely idiomatic and largely preserves the charming character of the unusual instrumentation.- Based on the Urtext of the series ?Works of Gioachino Rossini?.- Foreword in two languages (Eng/Ger).- With a separate Harmonium part and one part for Pianos I and II.

Today the Gloria RV 589 (BA 7674) is one of Vivaldi?s best-known compositions and one of the most frequently performed sacred vocal works from the Baroque period.Vivaldi wrote the ?Gloria? as a self-contained work in the style of a concertante mass. However it was probably also performed within church services. The scoring of the solo voices (SSA) suggests that the work was written during his period at the Ospedale della Piet around 1716. In the twelve movements of the ?Gloria? Vivaldi displays the whole range of his mastery from festive sublime outer movements to tender transparently scored solopassages.The same mastery has also been applied to the ? Kyrie? RV 587 (BA 8950) scored for two choirs and two groups of stringed instruments. The date of its composition remains unclear. It is a purely a choral work without solo passages.Both works can be performed independently but can also be combined as a kind of short mass. Although the authenticity of the autograph manuscript score is beyond doubt these new editions contain some re-evaluations in phrasing and performance practice which go beyond what other editions have to offer. George Frideric Handel's Judas Maccabeus composed for SATB choir and Piano accompaniment.

Handel?s four anthems were all composed during his London period in the Chapel Royal. ?As pants the hart? his fifth setting of this Psalm text was written in March 1738 for performance at a benefit concert for the King?s Theatre in the Haymarket. Until just before Handel?s first visit to England the only instrument permitted to accompany the service in the Chapel Royal was the Organ.These four works (O sing unto the Lord HWV 249a I will magnify thee HWV 250b As pants the hart HWV 251e Let God arise HWV 256b) with their orchestral accompaniments thus represent something akin to a new genre in English church music.The four anthems arepresented in clearly laid out Vocal scores with easy-to-play Piano reductions based on the Urtext from the ?Halle Handel Edition?. Saint-Saëns's Christmas Oratorio (or Oratorio de Noël) was written in 1858 when he was just 23. This piece was originally scored for five Vocal Soloists Chorus Harp String Quartet and Organ; this the vocal score contains a piano reduction.The Christmas Oratorio opens with a Prelude subtitled 'In the style of Sebastian Bach' harkening back to Bach's Christmas Oratorio. This opening prelude sets the scene for the Christmas story: its lilting pastoral quality creates images of the shepherds tending their flocks in the fields. In the remaining movements the vocal soloists take turns representing different characters such as the narrator ofthe story or as the angel who announces the birth of the baby Jesus while the chorus represents a multitude of angels singing to the glory of the Lord. The final movement of the piece which follows the model of old French Christmas songs is a virtual hymn of praise of all creation in the presence of God.The English version of the text is by N.H. Dole.

Klavierauszug-Antonio Vivaldi's Magnificat in G minor for SATB and Piano.The office as a priest and the long years as musical director of the Ospedale della Piet (a large orphonage in Venice) both occasioned and inspired him to compose church music in large variety. The Magnificat RV 160 has come down to us in two versions. The first version is dominated by the choral concept in the second version the texts of Et exultavit Quia respexit Quia fecit Esurientes and Sicut locutus est are each given new and extended solo arias that as the manuscripts reveals were tailored to voices of girls from the Ospedale who are mentioned by name in the autograph.
