In addition to these two contemporary versions this edition also contains an arrangement by the editor for Harpsichord or Organ based on the first edition. Though both early sources explicitly mention a Harpsichord the arrangements can also be performed effectively note-for-note on the Organ. As the surviving anonymous version merely places a solo part and a figured Bass on a two-stave system our edition is accompanied by performance material with one part each for transverse Flute/Oboe/Violin and Violoncello/Double Bass plus a figured Bass realisation.

Published in 1930 three years before Couperin’s death when he was very ill this volume initially presented some small mistakes and some white pages. It features seven Ordres from the 20th to the 27th with a total of 43 pieces. For upper-intermediate players this volume was edited by Kenneth Gilbert. François Couperin was a very famous French composer who played the Harpsichord the Organ. Coming from a famous family of musicians he was nicknamed“Couperin le Grand” ('Couperin the Great').

My intention was to evoke the colour and delicate aromatic qualities of three herbs rosemary sweet violet and lavender. Rosemary is a bush with pale blue flowers glowing in the moonlight Sweet Violet is described as early spring flowers with seductive scent and Lavender with tranquility andpurity. Lavender was revised in 1995. This score represents the original 1989 version. Jardin des herbes was written for Akiko Kuwagata who gave the first performance in Tokyo in March 1989.

The title of Esa Pietilä?s solo harpsichord work Fata morgana (2019) refers to a special weather con-dition, which creates illusory effect of mirage-like fairy castle-like monuments in the horizon of the sea. The piece brings forth the frightening bass sonority on double manual, full size harpsichord and the brightness on the treble and makes a dialogue out of them. ?I got fasci-nated by the sonority, character and power of the low register sound on the instrument, es-pecially when used in non-traditional way and found some kind of especially delightful and outlandish cluster-mud and airy glimmering things which seem to play together?, the com-poser describes. The first volume of the second tome of the Complete Harpsichord Work by Johann Jakob Froberger this volume is a set of sixteen pieces for Harpsichord. Edited by Howard Schott the book has its preface and information in French English and German. It features sixteen pieces features eight Toccatas five Capriccios a Fantasia and two Ricercars. The works are of medium difficulty and can be played by intermediate players. Johann Jakob Froberger (1616-1667) was a German Baroque composer. He was a really famous musician amongst his peers and influenced many of them.
