Arranged for Piano and Flute-Cesar Franck’s Sonata for Piano and Violin is one of the most treasured works in the Violin repertoire a masterpiece of cyclic form with a gracefulness and expressive force almost paradigmatic for the age of musical Romanticism. This work was composed in 1886 and was dedicated to the Belgian violinist and composer Eugène Ysaÿe.After Franck’s death in 1890 the original publisher of the Sonata the Parisian house Julien Hamelle announced an arrangement of the work for Flute in 1910. However it has not been possible to locate any copy of this publication. That the Flute version of Franck’s Sonata has found a permanent place in the chamber musicrepertoire is primarily the achievement of Jean-Pierre Rampal who frequently performed his own arrangement of the work.There were no idiomatic Violin techniques to overcome and the cantabile solo part with its broadly arched melodies seems perfectly natural on a wind instrument. The present Flute arrangement largely adopts the original Violin part unchanged merely transposing those passages that go beneath the Flute’s range. In such cases the change of register begins early enough to avoid disruptions to the melodic line and the musical context. The balance between the solo instrument and the (unaltered) Piano accompaniment remains intact.The edition is rounded off by an informative text on the genesis and reception history of the sonata (Ger/Fr/Eng).

for Flute and Harpsichord obbligato (Piano)-The B Minor Suite has a special place among the four extant Orchestral suites by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1066-1069) for two reasons: it is the only suite that calls for only one wind instrument and the only one with extensive solo passages for one instrument. Since moreover it is essentially Bach's only composition for solo Flute with Orchestra it enjoys great favour among flutists.A proper string ensemble is not always at one's disposal. Therefore an arrangement {or Flute and Obbligato Harpsichord has been prepared similar to one Bach himself might have written. The aim here has been to do nothing thatBach himself would not have done yet to refrain from doing everything of which he was capable.

Composed in 1998; score & separate Flute part included. Beat Furrer was born in Schaffhausen (Switzerland) in 1954 and received his first musical training on piano at the Music School there. After moving to Vienna in 1975 he studied conducting with Otmar Suitner and composition with Roman Haubenstock Ramati at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. In 1985 he founded the Klangforum Wien which he directed until 1992 and with which he is still associated as conductor. Commissioned by the Vienna State Opera he composed his first opera Die Blinden. Narcissus was premiered in 1994 as part of the Festival ?steirischer herbst? at the Graz Opera. In 1996 hewas composer-in-residence at the Lucerne Festival. His music theatre work BEGEHREN was premiered in Graz in 2001 the opera invocation in Zürich in 2003 and the sound theatre piece FAMA in Donaueschingen in 2005. In autumn 1991 Furrer became a full professor of composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz. He has been guest professor in composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt 2006 2009. In 2004 he was awarded the Music Prize of the City of Vienna and in 2005 became a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin. He was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2006 for his work FAMA. In 2010 his music theatre WÜSTENBUCH was premiered in Basel.
