Viola SKU: CA.3124513 Version IV. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bac...(+)
Viola SKU: CA.3124513 Version IV. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Peter Wollny. Arranged by Paul Horn. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. German title: Johannespassion 1749. Innovative practice aids, Sacred vocal music, Oratorios, Passions, Lent and Passiontide. Individual part. Composed 1749. BWV 245. 24 pages. Duration 120 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.245/13. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3124513). ISBN 9790007211400. Language: German/English. With the unfinished revision (1739) as an appendix. The St. John Passion ranks among the great vocal works from Bach's Leipzig years. In contrast to his other large-scale choral works, however, Bach never gave this work a definitive final form. Rather, for every performance he made numerous changes. All previous editions of the St. John Passion have combined readings from various layers of sources. The wish often expressed by conductors to perform an authentic version is made possible for the first time with the present edition in this fourth and final version which was performed under Bach's direction in 1749. At the same time, with the aid of the appendix it is possible to perform the work in the traditional mixed version.. | B Minor Mass, BWV 232 (Messe in h-Moll) Viola Carus Verlag
Viola SKU: CA.3123213 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Ulrich...(+)
Viola SKU: CA.3123213 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Ulrich Leisinger. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal; Carus sheet music series: Vocal scores XL. Viola. Innovative practice aids, Masses, Latin, Lent and Passiontide. Individual part. BWV 232. 24 pages. Duration 100 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.232/13. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3123213). ISBN 9790007211028. Language: Latin. Bach's B minor Mass is among the greatest and most ambitious works of all time. The various stages of composition of the Mass occupied the composer for over two decades: beginning with the Sanctus (1724), by way of the Missa of 1733, to the remaining movements of the Ordinary, which were composed during his last years. Thus the Mass, in its wealth of forms with arias, duets, as well as concertante and fugal choruses, displays the essence of Bach's skill and personal style. The greatest musical work of art of all times and all peoples (to quote the enthusiastic Hans Georg Nageli, who first edited the Mass in 1818) and one of the most demanding choral works in the repertoire is presented by Frieder Bernius, the Kammerchor Stuttgart and the Barockorchester Stuttgart in a stellar recording based on the principles of historical performance practice (Carus 83.211). Viola SKU: CA.2300263 Passion oratorio. Composed by Carl Loewe. Ed...(+)
Viola SKU: CA.2300263 Passion oratorio. Composed by Carl Loewe. Edited by Reinhold Kubik, Claudia Seidl. Viola. Sacred vocal music, Oratorios, Passions, Lent and Passiontide, Holy Week. Individual part. Composed presumably 1847. 36 pages. Duration 105 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 23.002/63. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2300263). ISBN 9790007247942. Language: German. Carl Loewe is known nowadays almost exclusively as a composer of ballads, but he was close to the spirit of his time and also composed a number of oratorios for the amateur choirs which became so numerous in the Biedermeier period. Das Suhnopfer des neuen Bundes reveals a wealth of expressivity using only a modest scoring. The solo parts can easily be performed by good amateurs, the well-known chorales give audiences the opportunity to join in the singing, and the scoring, mainly for small string group, underlines the emotions expressed by the soloists. In this oratorio we can hear Loewe's admiration for the Bach Passions, yet his characteristic musical language, typical of the time, shows that something new could develop from it. | Judas Maccabaeus Viola Carus Verlag
Viola SKU: CA.5506313 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Edited by Felix...(+)
Viola SKU: CA.5506313 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Edited by Felix Loy. Sacred vocal music, Oratorios; Stuttgart Editions (Urtext): Stuttgart Handel Edition. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Handel. Viola. Sacred vocal music, Oratorios. Individual part. 40 pages. Duration 160 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 55.063/13. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5506313). ISBN 9790007242091. Language: English/German. Text: Eschenburg, J. J. / Loy, Felix. First critical edition. The oratorio Judas Maccabaeus is one of George Frideric Handel's most popular choral works. It was performed over fifty times during the composer's lifetime and was one of his first works to be performed in Germany (1772). The frequent performances given by Handel himself resulted in a particularly large number of reworkings, reflecting local conditions. This new edition therefore offers the work in two performable versions: firstly, the version of the first performance in 1747, and the one from the last oratorio season during Handel's lifetime (1758/59). This makes available all the choruses and arias which Handel ever wrote for Judas Maccabaeus. Reflecting the latest Handel research, the edition is based for the first time throughout on Handel's conductor's score, thereby eradicating not only long-perpetuated mistakes, but also providing clarity about which pieces were actually performed by Handel. By contrast with the Chrysander edition obligatory until now, the aria Father of heav'n which introduces Part III is included here in its original, longer version.
