Level 3 - SKU: A0.1133711 By Various. By Anonymous, Giorgio Mainerio, Michael Praetorius, Pierre Attaignant, Pierre Certon, Pierre Phalese, and Tielman Susato. Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Early Music,Folk,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. 50 pages. Wold Meridian #733808. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1133711). This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to the Dance Masters which presented 44 of my favourite Renaissance Dance band tunes and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited 22 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances. You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkMoIoEYEMVPa_EXY6NVDpNSAs a help to those less confident in playing harmony lines, I have provided links to playlists of videos online for each part of each piece. You will hear the selected line on its own with chords and percussion, with the melody line added on repeats. The final repeat includes the other harmony lines, but the featured line is slightly louder in the mix. The performance starts with a percussion beat introduction to set the tempo.Who were the Publishers and the Dance Masters? What did they do? Sometime around the 1500s, the popularity of dance music exploded in Europe. Dance Masters were collecting chansons and dance tunes from courts and rural parts and were teaching these to new audiences, spreading their arrangements and reflecting the performance styles of the areas from which they had collected the tunes. Publishers were able to take these tunes that were becoming known across the regions and nations and spread them even more widely, thanks to technological innovations in music printing which made it quicker and therefore cheaper to produce collections of these dances in four or more parts. These publishers were often highly accomplished composers in their own right, who were both able to provide distinctive harmony lines and compose new tunes in the style of their sources, feeding the courts with enduring tunes. Composers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on. Working with this publication For those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available. Instrumentation for these pieces was not specified in the original prints. The range of each part is quite limited, and though the harmonies may seem strange at times, key signatures are kind to the less experienced musician. If enthusiasm takes hold, then reproductions of early music instruments are sold by some very talented makers, as well as coming up on auction sites. Otherwise, it is possible to put together a fairly convincing ensemble with recorders, violins, a cello and mandolins, bouzoukis, flutes or guitars and gradually introduce the authentic instruments as they become available.

Piano and orchestra - difficult - For piano and orchestra. Composed by Gyorgy Ligeti (1923-2006). This edition: solo part. Downloadable. Duration 24 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q53630. Published by Schott Music - Digital
I composed the Piano Concerto in two stages: the first three movements during the years 1985-86, the next two in 1987, the final autograph of the last movement was ready by January, 1988. The concerto is dedicated to the American conductor Mario di Bonaventura. .
The markings of the movements are the following: .
1. Vivace molto ritmico e preciso .
2. Lento e deserto .
3. Vivace cantabile .
4. Allegro risoluto .
5. Presto luminoso.
The first performance of the three-movement Concerto was on October 23rd, 1986 in Graz. Mario di Bonaventura conducted while his brother, Anthony di Bonaventura, was the soloist. Two days later the performance was repeated in the Vienna Konzerthaus. After hearing the work twice, I came to the conclusion that the third movement is not an adequate finale. my feeling of form demanded continuation, a supplement. That led to the composing of the next two movements. The premiere of the whole cycle took place on February 29th, 1988, in the Vienna Konzerthaus with the same conductor and the same pianist. .
The orchestra consisted of the following: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, tenor trombone, percussion and strings. The flautist also plays the piccoIo, the clarinetist, the alto ocarina. The percussion is made up of diverse instruments, which one musician-virtuoso can play. It is more practical, however, if two or three musicians share the instruments. Besides traditional instruments the percussion part calls also for two simple wind instruments: the swanee whistle and the harmonica. The string instrument parts (two violins, viola, cello and doubles bass) can be performed soloistic since they do not contain divisi. For balance, however, the ensemble playing is recommended, for example 6-8 first violins, 6-8 second, 4-6 violas, 4-6 cellos, 3-4 double basses. .
In the Piano Concerto I realized new concepts of harmony and rhythm. .
The first movement is entirely written in bimetry: simultaneously 12/8 and 4/4 (8/8). This relates to the known triplet on a doule relation and in itself is nothing new. Because, however, I articulate 12 triola and 8 duola pulses, an entangled, up till now unheard kind of polymetry is created. The rhythm is additionally complicated because of asymmetric groupings inside two speed layers, which means accents are asymmetrically distributed. These groups, as in the talea technique, have a fixed, continuously repeating rhythmic structures of varying lengths in speed layers of 12/8 and 4/4. This means that the repeating pattern in the 12/8 level and the pattern in the 4/4 level do not coincide and continuously give a kaleidoscope of renewing combinations. .
In our perception we quickly resign from following particular rhythmical successions and that what is going on in time appears for us as something static, resting. This music, if it is played properly, in the right tempo and with the right accents inside particular layers, after a certain time rises, as it were, as a plane after taking off: the rhythmic action, too complex to be able to follow in detail, begins flying. This diffusion of individual structures into a different global structure is one of my basic compositional concepts: from the end of the fifties, from the orchestral works Apparitions and Atmospheres I continuously have been looking for new ways of resolving this basic question. The harmony of the first movement is based on mixtures, hence on the parallel leading of voices. This technique is used here in a rather simple form. later in the fourth movement it will be considerably developed. .
The second movement (the only slow one amongst five movements) also has a talea type of structure, it is however much simpler rhythmically, because it contains only one speed layer. The melody is consisted in the development of a rigorous interval mode in which two minor seconds and one major second alternate therefore nine notes inside an octave. This mode is transposed into different degrees and it also determines the harmony of the movement. however, in closing episode in the piano part there is a combination of diatonics (white keys) and pentatonics (black keys) led in brilliant, sparkling quasimixtures, while the orchestra continues to play in the nine tone mode. .
In this movement I used isolated sounds and extreme registers (piccolo in a very low register, bassoon in a very high register, canons played by the swanee whistle, the alto ocarina and brass with a harmon-mute' damper, cutting sound combinations of the piccolo, clarinet and oboe in an extremely high register, also alternating of a whistle-siren and xylophone). The third movement also has one speed layer and because of this it appears as simpler than the first, but actually the rhythm is very complicated in a different way here. Above the uninterrupted, fast and regular basic pulse, thanks to the asymmetric distribution of accents, different types of hemiolas and inherent melodical patterns appear (the term was coined by Gerhard Kubik in relation to central African music). If this movement is played with the adequate speed and with very clear accentuation, illusory rhythmic-melodical figures appear. These figures are not played directly. they do not appear in the score, but exist only in our perception as a result of co-operation of different voices. .
Already earlier I had experimented with illusory rhythmics, namely in Poeme symphonique for 100 metronomes (1962), in Continuum for harpsichord (1968), in Monument for two pianos (1976), and especially in the first and sixth piano etude Desordre and Automne a Varsovie (1985). .
The third movement of the Piano Concerto is up to now the clearest example of illusory rhythmics and illusory melody. In intervallic and chordal structure this movement is based on alternation, and also inter-relation of various modal and quasi-equidistant harmony spaces. The tempered twelve-part division of the octave allows for diatonical and other modal interval successions, which are not equidistant, but are based on the alternation of major and minor seconds in different groups. The tempered system also allows for the use of the anhemitonic pentatonic scale (the black keys of the piano). From equidistant scales, therefore interval formations which are based on the division of an octave in equal distances, the twelve-tone tempered system allows only chromatics (only minor seconds) and the six-tone scale (the whole-tone: only major seconds). .
Moreover, the division of the octave into four parts only minor thirds) and three parts (three major thirds) is possible. In several music cultures different equidistant divisions of an octave are accepted, for example, in the Javanese slendro into five parts, in Melanesia into seven parts, popular also in southeastern Asia, and apart from this, in southern Africa. This does not mean an exact equidistance: there is a certain tolerance for the inaccurateness of the interval tuning. .
These exotic for us, Europeans, harmony and melody have attracted me for several years. However I did not want to re-tune the piano (microtone deviations appear in the concerto only in a few places in the horn and trombone parts led in natural tones). After the period of experimenting, I got to pseudo- or quasiequidistant intervals, which is neither whole-tone nor chromatic: in the twelve-tone system, two whole-tone scales are possible, shifted a minor second apart from each other. Therefore, I connect these two scales (or sound resources), and for example, places occur where the melodies and figurations in the piano part are created from both whole tone scales. in one band one six-tone sound resource is utilized, and in the other hand, the complementary. In this way whole-tonality and chromaticism mutually reduce themselves: a type of deformed equidistancism is formed, strangely brilliant and at the same time slanting. illusory harmony, indeed being created inside the tempered twelve-tone system, but in sound quality not belonging to it anymore. .
The appearance of such slantedequidistant harmony fields alternating with modal fields and based on chords built on fifths (mainly in the piano part), complemented with mixtures built on fifths in the orchestra, gives this movement an individual, soft-metallic colour (a metallic sound resulting from harmonics). .
The fourth movement was meant to be the central movement of the Concerto. Its melodc-rhythmic elements (embryos or fragments of motives) in themselves are simple. The movement also begins simply, with a succession of overlapping of these elements in the mixture type structures. Also here a kaleidoscope is created, due to a limited number of these elements - of these pebbles in the kaleidoscope - which continuously return in augmentations and diminutions. .
Step by step, however, so that in the beginning we cannot hear it, a compiled rhythmic organization of the talea type gradually comes into daylight, based on the simultaneity of two mutually shifted to each other speed layers (also triplet and duoles, however, with different asymmetric structures than in the first movement). While longer rests are gradually filled in with motive fragments, we slowly come to the conclusion that we have found ourselves inside a rhythmic-melodical whirl: without change in tempo, only through increasing the density of the musical events, a rotation is created in the stream of successive and compiled, augmented and diminished motive fragments, and increasing the density suggests acceleration. .
Thanks to the periodical structure of the composition, always new but however of the same (all the motivic cells are similar to earlier ones but none of them are exactly repeated. the general structure is therefore self-similar), an impression is created of a gigantic, indissoluble network. Also, rhythmic structures at first hidden gradually begin to emerge, two independent speed layers with their various internal accentuations. .
This great, self-similar whirl in a very indirect way relates to musical associations, which came to my mind while watching the graphic projection of the mathematical sets of Julia and of Mandelbrot made with the help of a computer. I saw these wonderful pictures of fractal creations, made by scientists from Brema, Peitgen and Richter, for the first time in 1984. From that time they have played a great role in my musical concepts. This does not mean, however, that composing the fourth movement I used mathematical methods or iterative calculus. indeed, I did use constructions which, however, are not based on mathematical thinking, but are rather craftman's constructions (in this respect, my attitude towards mathematics is similar to that of the graphic artist Maurits Escher). .I am concerned rather with intuitional, poetic, synesthetic correspondence, not on the scientific, but on the poetic level of thinking. .
The fifth, very short Presto movement is harmonically very simple, but all the more complicated in its rhythmic structure: it is based on the further development of ''inherent patterns of the third movement. The quasi-equidistance system dominates harmonically and melodically in this movement, as in the third, alternating with harmonic fields, which are based on the division of the chromatic whole into diatonics and anhemitonic pentatonics. Polyrhythms and harmonic mixtures reach their greatest density, and at the same time this movement is strikingly light, enlightened with very bright colours: at first it seems chaotic, but after listening to it for a few times it is easy to grasp its content: many autonomous but self-similar figures which crossing themselves. .
I present my artistic credo in the Piano Concerto: I demonstrate my independence from criteria of the traditional avantgarde, as well as the fashionable postmodernism. Musical illusions which I consider to be also so important are not a goal in itself for me, but a foundation for my aesthetical attitude. I prefer musical forms which have a more object-like than processual character. Music as frozen time, as an object in imaginary space evoked by music in our imagination, as a creation which really develops in time, but in imagination it exists simultaneously in all its moments. The spell of time, the enduring its passing by, closing it in a moment of the present is my main intention as a composer. .

Two horns & piano - SKU: IZ.IMF1816 Composed by Willard Zirk. Score and Parts. 22 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #IMF1816. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.IMF1816). 9 x 12 in inches.I have always been in awe of Louis Armstrong's (1901-1971) and Ella Fitzgerald's (1917-1996) extraordinary musicianship and creative improvisations, hence the title, I like Louis and Ella. They performed and recorded together in the 1940s through the 1960s. In the 1950s they produced three duet records: two Ella and Louis albums, and their Porgy and Bess album.I thought the best way to begin to understand their music was to imitate them. I sought to emulate Louis' warm humanity and musical efficiency--just the right note at the right time--and Ella's skillful and musically satisfying scat singing. There is only one quote in I Like Louis and Ella, the opening trumpet statement, but the rest of the music was written as my own impressions of their unique stylings.I am grateful to my former student, Kyle Tolstyka, for commissioning this piece to benefit the horn scholarship fund at Eastern Michigan University. Thanks go to the donors to the scholarship fund in support of this project--my former horn students, Tania Dupuis, Liesl Caarn Hansen, Dr. William Cederquist and his parents, Dr. Jack Cederquist and Meg Kennedy-Shaw. Finally, I would like to thank jazz greats Phil Sims, the engraver of this music; and Adam Unsworth, horn professor at the University of Michigan, for their invaluable advice.

Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGA957). UPC: 749193008348.Two-part with piano and optional flute.Advent.This anthem takes familiar prophetic lines from Isaiah 40:3 and intersperses them with a shortened version of the text found in the first stanza of the well-known Advent hymn, O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. The energetic 6/8 meter contributes to a mood of eager anticipation, as do the running eighth-note passages in the optional flute part. In partner song style, two melodies are introduced at the beginning of the piece which are then sung together building to a joyous, climatic ending. The second melody with its repetitive textual and musical phrases is easy enough for younger elementary singers, making the piece appropriate for younger and older elementary choirs. Lectionary use: Advent 2 B.

Published by Barber Music Company (A0.915660). I Will Give Thanks unto Thee is a happy little piece for an inexperienced SAB adult church choir. I composed it for our Thanksgiving Sunday service when our adult choir was just getting established. It is easy to learn and to sing as well as to play for the accompanist. The soprano range is C4 to E5; alto is A3 to E5; bass is C3 to E4. The duration is about 2:04. Although I wrote this piece specifically for Thanksgiving, because we are always to be giving thanks to Him, this composition is really suitable to almost any Christian worship service. If you have any questions about this or any of my other compositions on SMP Press, please feel free to contact me at aspiringtunerrjb@sbcglobal.net.

Trombone - Intermediate - By Michael Giacchino, Alexander Courage, Gene Roddenberry. Arranged by Sophia Johanna Transistor. Score, Solo Part. 5 pages. Published by Sophia Transistor
Epic famous film music STAR TREK theme "To Boldly Go and End Credits" arranged for single trombone solo performance (or any instrument notated in bass clef in C).
A symphonic suite arranged for slide-trombone instrumentation. Originally I started to play the trombone because of Commander William T. Riker.
This piece by Michael Giacchino contains portions of the TV Theme by Alexander Courage and Gene Roddenberry. Therefore it is like an epic medley of many familiar symphonic Star Trek tunes as we all love them.
It has been adapted specifically for trombone / t-bone brass players. Breething signs and spaces are included. Special slide positions and slide effects are notated as well.
Total play time is approximately 7 minutes and 43 seconds
but there is an option to end the piece in front of the interlude at time 2 min 42 sec at the same bar where the official HalLeonard piano arrangement of "to boldly go" ends:
https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/to-boldly-go-digital-sheet-music/19455787
After that, the music gets a little bit darker and string-dominated. These parts have been changed or excluded to make it a solid brasswind only Star Trek performance.
Score is available in C in bass clef with 5 pages in DIN-A4 format.
Major high notes that are the climax of a tension bow sometimes end on a high: ringing Ab''
There is even a High Db''' for the very ambitious trombone player (but the higher notes are also notated one octave lower).
Thanks!

Large Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.889436 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Luis Anjos Teixeira. Baroque,Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Standards. Score and parts. 11 pages. Luis Anjos Teixeira #4737807. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889436). The cantata „Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, BWV 106- „God`s Time Is The Very Best Time, ranks among Bach's most important works. It is a work of genius such as even great masters seldom achieve. The Actus tragicus belongs to the great musical literature of the world. Although Bach's manuscript is lost, the work is agreed to be one of the earliest Bach cantatas, probably composed during the year he spent in Mühlhausen 1707/1708 as organist of theDivi Blasil church, at the age of 22. Various funerals known to have taken place at this time have been proposed as the occasion for the composition, for example that of his uncle Tobias Lämmerhirt from his mother's family, who died inErfurt on 10 August 1707, and that of Adolph Strecker, a former mayor of Mühlhausen, whose funeral was 16 September 1708. The earliest surviving manuscript, in the hand of Christian Friedrich Penzel, was copied in 1768 after Bach's death. It introduced the title Actus tragicus. The cantata was published in 1876 as part of the first complete edition of Bach's works: the Bach-Gesellschaft-Ausgabe, edited by Wilhelm Rust. The text consists of different Bible passages from the Old and New Testament, as well as individual verses of hymns by Martin Lither and Adam Reusner, which all together refer to finiteness, preparation for death and dying. The Arrangement is relatively easy to perform, also appropriate for beginners. It is an ideal piece for advanced performers, this music touches deep into the Soul. The piece was arranged for modern instruments, I introduced some embellishments and interpretation symbols thus shortening the length of some notes, but no notes where otherwise changed or omitted in this arrangement. Also the original placement of the voices is totally respected, the structure of the piece was simply left as it was composed in its original form. Bach scored the instrumental parts for a small ensemble of Baroque instruments two recorders, two violas da gamba and continuo. I propose an interpretation for a modern string orquestra or a string quintet in this arrangement. You should feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills, Your taste and Soul. If the orquestra only has one double bass I would recommend you to reenforce the bass with a cello. It can be very well performed by a „string quintet- a string quartet with a double bass. Have fun! It is a piece that can be used in many different kinds of situations, in a serious concert hall, or a funeral, in Easter or even Christmas celebrations and all other kinds of Spiritual events. When performed Live It will give you back a great feedback from the public, you will always want to have it in your repertoire. The score was written on Finale. The sound file was produced with samplers from Garritan and conceived merely as an audio support for the presentation of this score. Thank you very much for taking your time to read this text and to listen to the file. I hope you have a lot of fun and enjoy the music. Sheers! Luis Anjos Teixeira Thanks to Claudia Eppelt for the all the Love, the wonderful painting and cover design. Special Thanks to Johann Sebastian Bach, Stray Dog Nina, Stray Queen Mimi, Carlinhos, Maria Pontinha, Maria Joaninha, Schwarzenegger, Maria Koboldinha. Concert Band - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1285185 Composed by Christian F. J. Buettner, John Tuananh Dang, and Rajan S. Arranged by Stephen Cai. 21st Century,Video Game. Score and Parts. 66 pages. Stephen Cai #876297. Published by Stephen Cai (A0.1285185). Monody - TheFatRat (Christian F. J. Buettner) arr. Stephen Cai for Concert BandProgram Notes:MUSIC As a sequel to Pigstep by Lena Raine and Exodus by Ernest Gold, I have decided to take on the challenge of arranging the ever-famous glitch hop song, Monody by Christian Buettner (known more prominently by his online alias, TheFatRat).Similarly to Pigstep, my first arrangement, I ran into the challenge of instrumentation, as Monody’s original soundtrack almost entirely consisted of electronic instruments. However, I used the same technique I did with Pigstep to overcome this problem: assign basslines to low brass, treble melodies to mid-range instruments, and high parts to upper woodwinds. Unlike Pigstep, Monody pushed me to be more creative with the percussion section, as I had to puzzle out recreating all of the numerous sound effects throughout the piece with traditional percussion instruments. I even decided to notate a conch shell line for the war horn present at the beginning and the coda! At the end, however, it all came together nicely, and I came to realize that both this song and the process of arranging it represent a journey, albeit in different contexts. The word “Monody†refers to, in a literal sense, a song sung to mourn one’s death, which accordingly fits with my view of the piece as a journey where the narrator loses their companion. Writing the introduction measures (M.22) carried me through the genuine feelings of embarking on a mythical undertaking as the original soundtrack intends to portray. The lively middle section (M.70) was enjoyable to write as well, because the music itself is upbeat and full of energy. Finally, arranging the solo section was probably my most memorable experience. The slow and subtly melancholic character of the melody (the oboe solo) very closely alludes to the narrator’s mourning, and the enchanting lyrics originally written for this section further confirms their loss:    I still hear you in the breeze,    See your shadows in the trees;    Holding on, memories never change. The chords and harmonies that the original soundtrack provided were relatively simple to transcribe, and I found joy complementing them with luscious percussion effects. This is my interpretation of Monody, and I believe that it would be best performed as a journey, one which we can relate to as it encompasses the theme of loss; a monody. ARTWORK I also took up the challenge of creating original cover artwork for Monody, and I have to say, my level of appreciation for artists of any kind has skyrocketed ever since that endeavor. It took nearly two months of watching YouTube tutorials, onerous idea crunching, and using my sister’s drawing tablet, but I had nevertheless completed it with advice from some of my more experience peers (including my sister). Formal Credits: Cai, Stephen and Rachel Cai. “Monody†Arrangement for Concert Band cover. 2023 Lastly, I want to say thanks to my friend Matteo Sohn for being such a huge musical inspiration, and thank you for acknowledging my arrangement!

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.889437 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Luis Anjos Teixeira. Baroque,Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Standards. 11 pages. Luis Anjos Teixeira #4741949. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889437). Although Bach's manuscript is lost, the work is agreed to be one of the earliest Bach cantatas, probably composed during the year he spent in Mühlhausen 1707/1708 as organist of the Divi Blasil church, at the age of 22. I propose an interpretation for a modern woodwind quintet in this arrangement. You should feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills, Your taste and Soul. Have fun! It is a piece that can be used in many different kinds of situations, from the serious concert hall to a funeral, in Easter or even Christmas celebrations and all other kinds of Spiritual events. For all Living beings on Earth, for all our Ancestors, Thank You for all of You All Your Love and Compassion. Love Forever. Luis Anjos Teixeira

Organ - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1137387 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score. 11 pages. Phil Beaman #737590. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1137387). Psalm 22 is a well-known and loved 8 part a capella choral work by Felix Mendelssohn. I have here arranged it for Organ Solo. Psalm 22 is about a person crying out to God to save him from his enemies, then thanks God for rescuing him. Thus, the first half is in E minor and the second half is in E major. Since it no longer has lyrics to convey the meaning I have used new tempi, dynamics, and registration, and also altered some harmonies and rhythms to add the appropriate interest and emotion. In order to create dialogue on the organ I have used unmetered recitative chant followed by metered antiphon in many places. In another section I use overlapping call and response between the hands and manuals. These are interspersed with 4 part Chorales. The mood constantly shifts throughout in many short sections, but the beauty is in the way they fit together creating harmony and polyphony and dialogued emotions. This is a great 9 minute organ Prelude which bridges the Classical and Romantic eras. 9:15 minutes; 11 pages (Apologies- I was in a hurry to record this, so there are a couple of wrong notes and rhythmic inaccuracies in the recording.).

Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 21 minutes Year of composition: 1988 Program Note: !. Games (fast) II. Intermezzo: Dreams of Gold (slow) III. Dances (very fast) Child's Play was completed in August, 1988. In no way does the title refer to the technical demands of the piece, which are considerable. Rather, it refers to the endlessly imaginative, energized, and constantly changing play that might be engaged in by four different, though like-minded children. Indeed, the inspiration for the quartet was my then two-year-old daughter Rachel, whose boundless energy and capacity for play I found (and still find) rather terrifying. Child's Play consists of three movements: Games (fast), Intermezzo: Sogni d'Oro (Dreams of Gold) (slow), and Dances (very fast). In Games, four energetic and well-rested players leap out of the starting blocks together and engage in sport of various kinds: running games, chasing games, teasing games, tag, echo games (Simon Says), races, and so forth, eventually returning to the unison from which they began. Intermezzo: Sogni d'Oro (Dreams of Gold) offers a quiet, episodic, dreamlike respite from the frenetic mood of Games. In Dances, the energized character of the first movement resumes, only faster. Dances is a perpetual motion movement in three parts, with a slower, more fragmented middle section sandwiched between a boisterous and frenzied dance of life. This movement ends much in the same way as the first movement began, bringing the circuit of the piece to a close. Child's Play was commissioned by, and is dedicated, with many thanks and great appreciation, to the Alexander String Quartet.

Violin Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.799118 By Dwight Yoakam. By Freddie Mercury and Frederick Mercury. Arranged by Dan Sanchez. Rock. 4 pages. Dan Sanchez #4776573. Published by Dan Sanchez (A0.799118). This Solo Violin arrangement still manages to capture the full sound of my string quartet version of Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen. Your listeners will love this toe-tapping tune, so much so that you might get an air-guitarist joining you on the side! The bowings included here with help with the swing. It’s a blast to play; I really enjoy it. I hope you do, too! One thing that sets my arrangements apart from others is that I fit all of my parts on 2 sheets of music. This makes it so the songs can fit into a binder, without the need for flipping pages! Another great thing (for multi-instrumental arrangements) is that I include cue lines on each part, so that every player in the ensemble can see one other person’s music at the same time. This is so amazingly useful and has saved countless performances in the past. If someone skips a beat or misses a measure, you can now see where they are and reconnect! This also helps with sight-reading and keeping the group together in general. So, feel free to check out my other arrangements while you're here! Thanks,Dan

Published by Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic (A0.1312666). ALL PURCHASES COME WITH SCORE AND PARTSIn 4 movements – total duration 35 minutes.Quincie was written between July 2018 and January 2019. I had just begun receiving the main ideas for it when a pianist I know locally, Robert Aston, happened to ask me if I had written anything for piano and string quartet. I believe that Quincie “heard†this and that was the trigger and the door unlocking. Because the next thing I knew I was absolutely engulfed in the writing of this work for the next six months.Like all my works, this one is an emotional journey, and my own nickname for it is Quincie, The Comic Healer. Each movement tells a progressive story of the different stages of a journey through a long period of grief, illness, depression and chronic anxiety. The overall mood of the whole piece is extremely energetic, loving, warm, compassionate and audience friendly, and while there is some heart ache in the middle of the first movement, the work is also extremely comical and hilarious in its third and fourth movements. It has a great sense of slapstick humour alongside the deep ache of grief and unfathomable sadness. It is completely tonal and in a highly Romantic style. It has enjoyed the following performances:April 27th 2019 at the Triangle Church, Bolton BL1 5QP 7.30pm by the Pennine QuintetJune 1st 2019 at the Victoria Hall, Knowsley St. Bolton BL1 2AS at 1pm Lunchtime concert, by the Pennine QuintetJuly 7th 2019 at the Horwich Community Centre, Beaumont Rd, BL6 7BG at 2.45pm as part of the Horwich Music Festival.A great start for a brand new work! My gratitude to the Pennine Quintet and concert organizers is immense and not something I will ever forget. Thank you. The following performance was recorded and filmed at the Horwich Music Festival on July 7th 2019 and added to YouTube with permission of the Pennine Ensemble. Many many thanks.Very sadly, in June 2020, the pianist, Robert Aston, passed away from cancer. Without his wonderful support and encouragement this work never would have had even one performance let alone FOUR! Therefore, I have now fully dedicated this piece to Robert as the least I could do to thank him for all the wonderful music he gave so freely to Bolton, UK, over his lifetime. Thank you, Robert. You were FAB!!!

The combination of these two instruments creates a unique and enchanting musical experience. The arrangement begins with the gentle and sparse opening chords on the piano, creating a serene atmosphere. As the flute enters, it carries the iconic melody, infusing it with its pure and ethereal tones. The flute's breathy and lyrical qualities add an extra layer of expressiveness to the music, enhancing its introspective and contemplative nature.Throughout the arrangement, the flute and piano interact in a musical dialogue, weaving together their sounds in perfect harmony. The piano provides a rich and nuanced backdrop, supporting the flute's melodic lines and adding depth to the arrangement. The flute, in turn, soars above the piano, capturing the listener's imagination and conveying the emotional depth of Satie's composition. The arrangement maintains the simplicity and elegance of Satie's original work, while allowing for subtle interpretations and expressive flourishes from both the flute and piano. Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - SKU: A0.810983 Composed by Cherry Classics Music. Arranged by John, W., and Ware. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 63 pages. Gordon Cherry #4601711. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810983). This fine work has sat dormant for many years and has now come to light thanks to the efforts of Charlie Vernon, Bass Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony, who performed this virtuoso work as a young performer. The concerto is in the standard three movement form: Fast, slow, fast. This publication is a reduction from the original orchestral version (to be released at some point in the future). Here is a description of the Concerto by the composer, John W. Ware. I started on the trombone concerto in my junior year studying composition at Indiana University. While working on it, I learned of an opportunity to make it sort of a thesis piece (though students didn't write a thesis in composition while an undergrad). The original version was for trombone with string orchestra, and it was performed by the IU String Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Arthur Corra, with Robert Priez, trombone, as part of my senior composition recital. I thought the performance was quite good (Priez played extraordinarily well), and the piece received a newspaper review in the Indiana Daily Student, in which the reviewer wrote that the work was almost too exciting. I thought at the time that he had given me and my music a fine compliment. I made a piano version of the accompaniment, shortening and tightening the first movement, for performances in 1966; I made a second revision in 1967 for a performance by E. J. Eaton, trombonist at the University of Tennessee at Martin, arriving at the form in which the work exists now. The first movement is in fairly normal sonata-allegro form, in the key of A minor. It alternates between assertive and more thoughtful moods. There is no introduction; the soloist enters immediately and dominates much of the movement. The main theme is--by some manipulation--a source for most of the other themes, and all of the themes are used in close proximity to each other, including contrapuntal combinations, especially near the end. Originally the movement included a lengthy fugato, now much shortened and including a stretto that builds and subsides before a cadenza leading to a coda based on both the principal and secondary themes. Key relations in this movement, as in the other two, are quite free and often chromatic, with frequent third-relations; but returns to the tonic at the end are emphatic. The writing is challenging for both soloist and accompanist; the piece is substantial, requiring technique and stamina. The second movement is in F minor and is also built on both contrast and close relationships between the main and secondary themes. The main theme is heard in the piano part before the soloist enters. The mood is more lyric than in the first movement, but with dramatic episodes also. In this movement are some definite derivations from themes in the first movement. The ending is a sort of lengthened shadow of the opening. The finale returns to A minor, with themes slightly related to polonaise rhythms, but with strong echoes of first-movement themes. Here, too, dramatic and lyric episodes alternate, with dotted rhythms frequently propelling the music forward. The introduction is a brief and simple preparation for the solo entry. Later in the movement, a very brief, slightly slower section is soon overtaken by the original tempo. Toward the end, there is a second cadenza, again leading to a swift and energetic coda. The work is about 20 minutes in length and is appropriate for advanced performers.

This is the first blues my teacher Joachim and I composed together, but I liked the second one better so we recorded that one first (Minor Blues https://youtu.be/GcbZBvaURTc). But once that project was taken care of, I grew fond of this one, too. It's the best little fingerstyle etude to start your daily guitar practice with and get into the feeling. I called it Blues No. 17 because Blues No. 1 sounds boring and my birthday is on the 17th of December :-) We'd be so happy if you purchased our guitar tabs and used it in your guitar lessons! Thanks a lot and have fun playing your guitar! PS In the video I'm playing Blues No. 17 at 75 bpm.

ISBN 9781619115453. 8.75 x 11.75 inches. If you've heard jazz guitarists like Joe Pass play chord melody, you may think that the style requires an encyclopedic knowledge of music theory, musical super-powers, or making a deal with the devil. But fear not! This book will show you how to create your own satisfying chord melody arrangements on the mandolin...and will do so in a practical, applicable, non stroke-inducing way. "Aaron Weinstein has many musical accomplishments. I am very proud to have played a small part with some of them. When he was only 12 he made his first recordings and asked me to play mandolin on them. I was knocked out to encounter someone that young that was conversant in both old-time or contest fiddling and Joe Venuti style jazz. Not long after that Aaron became interested in the mandolin and chords and he came by every so often to play and discuss voicings, improvisation and the like. I showed him some of the Jethro Burns chord melody arrangements that Jethro showed me. I've been teaching those for decades in hopes of one day playing them smoothly myself! Fast forward a few more years and Aaron has a Berklee degree, traveled the world playing hot violin music and is hobnobbing with the greatest NYC jazz stars. And oh yeah, one other thing: he took the art of chord-melody mandolin style to an entirely new level! The rich harmonies of the standard jazz and show tune repertoire, the swinging bass lines and connecting chords and independent voice movements (doing more than one thing at a time) are all present in Aaron's style, thanks to his great ear, open mind and gift at locating things on the fretboard. And now Aaron has documented, explained and shared his discoveries and approach with all of us in this book. Thank you Aaron! This is truly a step-by-step method that you will enjoy. You'll find yourself saying 'oh, of course!' as the author gets you playing and understanding things that sound very detailed and complex. The first section I would call the mandolinistic stuff: the how-to on getting things moving and connected on the fretboard. This part is laid out in a very logical manner with clear explanations and fun activities. After working through these etudes you will know the fretboard better and be a better mandolin playing musician regardless of what style of music is your favorite. As I looked this part over I recalled the parable about 'give someone a fish and he will have a meal. Teach him to fish and he'll eat the rest of his life..' The second part puts your new-found chops to work playing some great solo chord melody tunes Weinstein style. Again the author walks us gently into the material by providing two versions of each piece, the basic structure followed by a more developed version. In the history of mandolin playing there have been many examples of techniques, arrangements and music that might be thought of as 'chord-melody' style. Consider works by Raffaele Calace, or 'Duo' style from the early twentieth century American stylists and then again as modernized by Evan Marshall in the current era. Bach on the mandolin, as played by virtuosi such as Caterina Lichtenberg, Mike Marshall, Carlo Aonzo, Chris Thile and others also illustrates harmony and melody simultaneously. And of course Jethro Burns did so much in the way of bringing jazz and standards to life with chord-melody mandolin that it is often referred to as 'Jethro Style'. The book you have in your hand presents a unique and accessible route to these types of techniques and sounds. Bravo, Aaron! And thank you, my friend." Don Stiernberg.
