Horace Silver

This well-known composition by Horace Silver is written in a moderate Latin style. Mark's version is based on Horace's own classic arrangement and features some very nice ensemble writing. Includes a flexible solo section with written out samples for any instrument.

Michael Abene not only produced the 1992 GRP All-Star Big Band recording but he contributed some of the hippest arrangements as well. This unique treatment of the Horace Silver classic is an excellent example of Michael'screative style. This publication is the authentic chart rescored for standard instrumentation by Michael himself. The variety of styles and ample settings for improvisation make this one a real showpiece. The distinctively personal style of Horace Silver shaped a career of writing and playing jazz. This 1965 song has been arranged for the Milwaukee High School of Performing Arts for their 2015 ACDA performance in Salt Lake City.
