Bartók's Mikrokosmos has been one of the milestones in pedagogical piano repertoire for 80 years - and yet it is also far more than a classical piano primer. Based on volume 40 of the Bartók CompleteEdition published in 2020(Z. 15040), the present Urtext edition offers the series gathered in three volumes. This edition includes Bartók's preface, exercises, and notes written for the first edition. Furthermore, it also features a preface and comments by the editor, which not only discuss the genesis and the compositional sources but also provide performers, teachers and pupils alike, with authentic and detailed information about Bartók's notation and the specific performing problems of Mikrokosmos.

Etude du Rythme is an educational tool proposed by Georges Dandelot (1895-1975), a French composer, following the concept that rhythm is the foundation on which melody and harmony are then layered. It was conceived to progressively teach musicians how to deal with complicated rhythms such as those used by Bartok or Ravel. This volume is the first of five composing a step-by-step method to learn and master rhythm in music. It covers basics and simple melodies; the second volume introduces more complexity on the same concept, then the third one should help pianists to play different rhythms with each hand. Volumes four and five use complex combinations of rhythms and melody with binary and tertiary tempos.
