The piece was composed for the project of the pianist Susanne Kessel: Commissioned until Beethoven's 250th birthday in 2020, she plays and releases new piano pieces of 250 contemporary composers of new electronic music, jazz, pop and film music which all refer to Beethoven and his works. Despite the historical distance, York Holler finds an intellectual proximity to his predecessor with regard to the permanent development. While sometimes reaching enormous dimensions in Beethoven's symphonies, the principle is compressed by Holler in his composed homage into three minutes. As a basis he uses two contrasting motifs which are derived from thetone letters of Beethoven's name.
