String Trios a minor op. 77b and d minor op. 141b. Par REGER MAX. Les deux trios à cordes de Max Reger font partie, côté du « divertimento » en mi bémol majeur K. 563 de Mozart et des trio à cordes op. 9 de Beethoven, des oeuvres majeures du genre. Tant pour le style que pour l?ambition, Reger se réfère ici ces grands maîtres de la musique classique qu'il vénérait tant. Les deux trios portent l'empreinte du classique- ils plaisent de par leur caractère détendu, parfois même enjoué. Rien d?étonnant que leur création (1904 et 1915) ait remporté un tel succès. Michael Kube, spécialiste de Reger, a réalisé cette édition sur la base de l'autographe et de la première édition. Following the first two volumes of Haydn’s String Trios in a study score (HN 9424 and 9425) we are now publishing the third and final one. Although Haydn is said to have composed about 60string trios most of them must be discounted for source-critical and stylistic reasons. The eighteen trios which definitely lay claim to authenticity were published in volumes 1 and 2. The third volume contains eight triosattributed to Haydn although his authorship cannot be proven. In addition to the Urtext edition (HN 628) these charming works are now also available in a handy score format. The musical text is that of the HaydnComplete Edition and it has been complemented by a new and informative preface by the Haydn scholar Sonja Gerlach.

Bohuslav Martin (1890-1959) was a prolific Czech composer writing many large scale works. The composer moved to Paris in 1923 where he began experimenting in a variety of composition styles. His String Trio was published in 1951. Martin himself was a violinist and many of his experiments in composing for solo instruments and small ensembles saw him write for his own instrument and for the familiar strings. String Trio is made up of two movements; 1) Allegro and 2) Poco moderato. With a typical performance lasting about 15 and a half minutes the String Trio for Violin Viola and Celloprovides advanced string players with an exciting challenging and inspiring ensemble work addressing a variety of musical features. Martin 's String Trio is essential to aspiring string ensembles.
