for Violoncello and Piano-Cesar Franck?s Sonata for Piano and Violin is one of the most treasured works in the Violin repertoire a masterpiece of cyclic form with a gracefulness and expressive force almost paradigmatic for the age of musical Romanticism. This work was composed in 1886 and was dedicated to the Belgian violinist and composer Eugène Ysaÿe.Franck?s friend the cellist Jules Desart was so impressed when he heard the Violin Sonata performed at the Société nationale de musique in Paris that he adapted the work for his instrument. This arrangement was first published in 1887 by inserting the Cello part into the Piano score of the original edition. For this purpose thePiano score had received a new cover and the publisher had expanded the title of the composition to ?Sonate pour Piano et Violon ou Violoncelle?. This version by the cellist Jules Delsart for Piano and Violoncello is the only arrangement of the work authorized by the composer and its first edition represents the main source for Bärenreiter?s new scholarly-critical publication.This Barenreiter edition also includes a separate movement ?Mélancolie? first published after Franck?s death in 1911 again for the same instrumentation Piano and Violin or Violoncello. George Frederick Handel's (1685-1759) Sonata No. 6 is well-known to the Violin repertoire. Therefore when French saxophonist Marcel Mule (1901-2001) arranged the popular piece for the Saxophone in 1951 it was very well-received. The Sonata No. 6 is made up of four movements: Adagio Allegro Largo and Allegro non troppo. Handel's Sonata No. 6 was first published in 1732. Mule's editions ensure that the Saxophone part contains the articulation phrasing and breath marks necessary to the instrument. For all classical saxophonists this Mule arrangement of the popular SonataNo. 6 is essential.

From 1772 onward Mozart wrote 17 short single movement works called Epistle Sonatas designed to be played in the Eucharist service between the Epistle and the Gospel. The Epistle Sonata in C (K.336) was the last of these written in 1780. Shortly afterwards the Archbishop decreed that a motet or hymn should be sung instead and they fell into disuse. The Epistle Sonata in C was originally scored for two Violins Basso Continuo and Baroque Organ. It has been arranged for solo Organ (with pedals) by Nigel Davison.

The Duke d’Aumont brought him to Paris where he entered the service of King Louis XIV. In 1720 Eccles published a book of sonatas for Violin and figured bass from which renowned English composer Malcolm Lipkin has created this arrangement for ‘Cello and Piano.
