Clara Wieck’s sincerest wish was that her future husband, Robert Schumann, turn his extraordinary genius toward the larger and more challenging task of composing orchestral music. On the 200th anniversary of Robert Schumann's birth an ambitious project is coming to a close: For the first time since Clara Schumann's Complete Edition of 1879 93 all of the works for Piano solo are appearing as oneeditorial project.Spanning almost ten years of painstaking work all of the Schumann titles published by G. 3rd movement of the 'F.A.E.-Sonata' composed by R. Schumann A. Dietrich and J. Brahms-In October 1853 Robert Schumann invited Joseph Joachim to take part in a Concert at Dusseldorf. In order to celebrate the arrival of the famous young violinst his friends in Dusseldorf prepared a jocular surprise for him. They composed together a Sonata for Violin and Piano and Joachim has to guess the composer of each movement. Dietrich wrote the Allegro in A Minor Schumann the Intermezzo in F Brahms the Scherzo In C Minor (the work printed here) and Brahms completed the Sonata with the Finale in A Minor.

Following Schumann?s first evidently unsuccessful attempt at composing a 'Sonata' - he only had the opening movement published under the title 'Allegro in b minor' - he tried once again in 1833. It is a well-knownfact that this sonata was composed while he was in close contact with Clara Wieck who was thirteen at the time. Individual motifs from it can be found later in Clara?s work; but by the same token individual figures can be foundin the sonata which point to Clara?s ?Pièces caractéristiques? op. 5. In addition Schumann used an almost literal adaptation of his song ?To Anna? for the second movement. We have included this in the appendix of ouredition and in so doing show the roots of this composition.

Op. 65 in G Major-This concerto by Georg Goltermann is one of the easiest of the eight solo concerts he wrote for this instrument. Drawing closely on famous predecessors such as Robert Schumann's A minor Concerto his piece captivates the listener with a rich vein of melody an expansive and elegiac slow movement and a wittily amusing Allegro presto as a finale. The publication is a revised and updated edition in which the existing Dowani recording has been augmented with a new piano reduction and the solo part has been supplied with fingering marks.
