The Fantasie in C major Op. 15 popularly known as the Wanderer Fantasy is a four-movement fantasy for solo Piano composed by Franz Schubert?in 1822. The whole work is based on one single basic motive from the lied ?The Wanderer? and the four movements are played without a break.?It is widely considered to be?Schubert's most technically demanding composition for the Piano. Schubert?himself said 'the devil may play it ' in reference to his own inability to do so properly. Each volume refers to a special bird and to the French region where the bird is typically from. The piece does not only describe the bird it also depicts its surroundings such as other birds the landscape of its area the colours and the temperature. He composed many works related to ornithology and birdsong including the 'Treatise on rhythm colour and ornithology' in 7 volumes.

Japanese born Makoto Shinohara was born in 1931. He studied at the Tokyo University of Arts before moving to the Paris Conservatoire. His passion is for electronic music but his catalogue is varied and includes the sublime Obsession for Oboe and Piano. Composed in 1960 Shinohara had just completed his studies at the Paris Conservatoire under Olivier Messiaen and other experimental composers. Obsession exploits the Oboe and Piano through riveting uses of tonality rhythm dynamics tempo articulation and shared melody. For all advanced oboists seeking to include a challenging yet excitingly uniquecontemporary work in their repertoire Shinohara's Obsession suitably fits the bill!

Delius wrote very little solo piano music so these arrangements by two of the most distinguished piano composers of the time will be welcome addition to the repertoire. Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No.2 accurately and beautifully arranged for 2 Pianos. Composed in 1957 the premiere was given on 10th May in the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatoire conducted by Nikolai Ansonov. The piece is dedicated to and was first played by Dmitri's son Maxim Shostakovich.    This is an abridged version for two Pianos.

A Little Piano Book is a delightful collection of six simple pieces for solo piano composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams. These six pieces were first published in three volumes in 1934 under the title Six Teaching Pieces For Pianoforte. They were published together as A Little Piano Book in 1984.
