Cadenzas and Lead-ins for Piano Concertos-This volume contains all of Beethoven’s surviving cadenzas and lead-ins for Piano concertos: both for his own concertos nos. 1 4 for his Piano arrangement of the Violin Concerto op. 61 as well as for Mozart’sConcerto in d minor K. 466. They were in all probability not intended for his own use as Beethoven’s improvisatory skills were legendary. Piano Reduction-A talented pianist and composer it stood to reason that Camille Saint-Saëns would engage with the Piano concerto genre early on particularly as in France the 'concerto brilliant' was very popular at that time.Saint-Saëns did indeed begin to compose his own concertos however; he gave a clear renunciation of the 'concerto brilliant' declaring instead that 'the solo part of a concerto must be set out and treated like adramatic role'. He realised this concept of a 'symphonic concerto'; in his Piano Concerto No.2 In G Minor composed in 1868.The solo part is technically very challenging and at the same time closely boundup with the Orchestra. Johannes Umbreit is responsible for the Piano reduction based on the composer's own version for Two Pianos; Pascal Rogé supplies the fingerings for the solo part.

Anton n Dvo ák?was a Czech composer. Following the nationalist example of Bed ich Smetana ?Dvo ák?frequently employed aspects specifically rhythms of the folk music of Moravia and his native Bohemia. Dvo ák?s own style has been described as ?the fullest recreation of a national idiom with that of the symphonic tradition absorbing folk influences and finding effective ways of using them?.The?Piano Concerto?for Piano and Orchestra in G minor Op. 33 was the first of three concertos that the Czech composer completed?it was followed by a Violin concerto and then a Celloconcerto?and the?Piano Concerto?is probably the least known and least performed.This Bosworth edition of the solo Piano part of Dvo ák?s?Piano Concerto?is a perfect addition of an underappreciated piece to any pianists repertoire.

Piano reduction-According to Mozart?s own catalogue K. 491 was completed on 24 March 1786 it was Mozart?s only Piano concerto aside from K. 466 that was in a minor key. It was probably first performed two weeks later aspart of an ?academy? at the Burgtheater in Vienna. Mozart was extremely pressed for time while composing this work a fact that is shown both by the cursory way in which the autograph was written and by therepeated corrections. Unlike earlier publications this edition contains the definitive version as in Mozart?s manuscript. The Piano reduction of this edition was undertaken by the celebrated pianist AndrásSchiff to whom we also already owe our reductions of the concertos K. 453 467 488 and 503 (HN 765 766 767 and 825). He also supplied the fingerings for the solo part the cadenzas and the lead-ins.

for Piano and Orchestra-Mozart perfected the form of the modern piano concerto which from about 1750 begins to show its affinity with sonata form in his 21 concertos for solo piano and orchestra. The D minor piano concerto K.466 is one of the few concertos which remained in concert repertoire in the years following Mozart’s death.
