Come To Bethlehem is a Christmas carol by Dom Gregory Murray. It takes its melody from Capriol Suite, and is scored for SATB choir, with a Piano reduction for rehearsalpurposes.
Capriol Suite is a set of six dances in the Renaissance style. They form the most famous work of the English composer Peter Warlock (1894-1930), who also achieved fame for his scandalouslifestyle. Each dance is short, and draws inspiration from the tunes found in a 1589 dance manual. Warlock was an ardent admirer of Delius throughout his career, and his harmonic style is very similar. The whole suite waswritten over a single weekend in October 1926.
