The cantata Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich (O my Lord, I long for thee) BWV 150 is one of the earliest cantatas from Bach's Muhlhausen period. Its authenticity was long disputed, partly because of the stylistic characteristics of this early work, but also because the cantata only survives in sources dating from the period after Bach's death. However, in recent years a hidden dedication to Conrad Meckbach, a member of the Muhlhausen town council and patron of Bach, has been deciphered: the initial letters of the free poetry reveal the acrostic Doctor Conrad Meckbach (in the 18th century spelling), revealing a link to the city of Muhlhausen and almost certainly confirming Bach's authorship of the cantata. The occasion of the composition of the work is still unknown. The small instrumental scoring for just two violins, bassoon, and continuo, plus the fact that only the soprano is given a solo movement, suggest a performance with modest resources. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.3115000.

The two-movement, incompletely transmitted Horn Concerto in D major K. 412 was long considered as Mozarts first horn concerto; it is, however, his last, and was written between March and December 1791. Mozart undertook revisions in the autograph which contains the most important orchestral parts next to the entire solo horn part in order to adjust the work to the modest technical abilities of the planned soloist Joseph Leutgeb. Mozart revised and completed the first movement, eliminated lower notes in the solo part, rewrote difficult passages and expanded orchestral interludes to give Leutgeb additional breath rests. Mozart also made similar simplifications in the second movement as well, but his early death prevented the completion of the work. Robert D. Levin reconstructed both versions of the concerto on the basis of the autograph. Next to the version revised by Mozart (post correcturam), he now presents the original version (ante correcturam) for the first time in a musical text revised and supplemented according to rigorous philological criteria.

This is the second of six Masses composed by Franz Schubert (1797-1828), also referred to frequently as the Mass in G, and it remains the best known of the three shorter settings titled Mass. Composed in 1815, it was originally scored for choir, string orchestra, organ, and the soloists and remained one of the composer's less-noted works, not even being printed until 1845. But the Mass's later popularity also led Franz' brother Ferdinand to add winds and timpani after Franz' death. And a 1980s discovery of a set of parts that include trumpets and brass, in addition to some minor changes, suggests that Schubert intended something grander than the original scoring. The current edition may be played with the original strings and organ only or with the addition of the oboe/clarinets, bassoons, trumpets, and timpani. Apart from some passages for the soprano, this Mass has only modest solo passages, and it is written in a devotional mood. Instrumentation: 0.2(opt.subCl).0.2(opt): 0.2(opt).0.0: Timp(opt): Org: Str (4-4-3-3-3 in set): Solo SATB: Mix Chor. Vocal score and choral score available separately.
