In a wonderfully realized gender-reversal thread in the plot of Disney's Frozen II, comes this passionate AE80s rock ballad from mountain man Kristoff, accompanied by none other than singing apparitions of his reindeer and lifelong best friend, Sven. Staged on the screen to mimic the landmark music video for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, this will elicit much more than a wry chuckle from your audience!

This arrangement of the beautiful Appalachian carol is very expressive and meant to be performed with much freedom and thoughtful attention to the words, dynamic contrasts, and tempo alterations. Once you have learned this piece and are familiar with these changes to volume and tempo indications, watch your director very carefully for cues for these subtleties. It is very important that you stay together and make these changes as a unified group. The effect will be amazing! Even though this song begins very gently, be certain to pronounce your words carefully and with good diction. There are many words that sound similar: wonder / wander / under, for example. The beauty of the poetry and alliteration will be lost on your listener if your lyrics cannot be understood. Also, the story is in the words, carried to the listener on the wings of the melody and arrangement. Always, no matter what your volume level and even at the very softest levels, pronounce, pronounce, pronounce! Enjoy the ethereal beauty and reflective musings of this meditative piece! ~ Ruth Elaine Schram. This arrangement of the beautiful Appalachian carol is very expressive and meant to be performed with much freedom and thoughtful attention to the words, dynamic contrasts, and tempo alterations. The mysterious lost civilization of Atlantis has captured the imagination for generations, and this powerful programmatic work from the pen of Rob Romeyn brings that mystical world to life in music. Beautiful melodies, stark musical contrasts and bold drama all describe this stunning programmatic piece depicting the island nation that existed over 11,000 years ago in the midst of the Atlantic Ocean. The music begins calmly, depicting a beautiful sunrise over the city. It develops as the fateful day ensues, reaching a stunning climax as Atlantis, its people and its humanity were swallowed by the sea. A variety of tonal colors, textures, and contrasting styles will make this wonderful piece a mainstay for concert and festival use. Solid scoring and cued solos will make this work for many performance situations. This is truly an outstanding contemporary work. Don't miss this one!!

1.7.16 was commissioned by The Hamilton Flute Band to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, and was premiered in St Columb’s Cathedral, Londonderry on 1st July 2016. This new version for flute choir was written for The Woodbridge Flute Choir, Virginia, USA, in 2024. The piece takes some of its ideas from musical elements already connected to the story, from the signalling bugle calls that might have been used in battle, to hints of one of the March tunes that the band still use today. 794,628 lives were lost in the Battle of the Somme, a chilling statistic. These numbers are also woven into the music, colouring the choices of intervals, harmonies and chords, and building the central themes, including the slow march to the trenches, where the uncomfortable juxtaposition of 7ths and 9ths is used as a motif over the solo flute theme before the screeching whistle signal to go over the top. One of the musical elements central to the piece is the bugle call for Assemble which is used as an enthusiastic call in the opening, then to give unity to the chilling fear of the trenches on the eve of the battle, and finally to lead into the Commemoration of the final section, as those in the Cathedral 100 years later became part of the story as they assembled to commemorate the huge sacrifice made.

History is the hook in this composition that, from start to finish, is full of non-stop excitement. The use of one’s vivid imagination is a great tool for inspiration. Following the first reading of this work, your students will undoubtedly want to raise their hands and, when called upon, enthusiastically share their interpretation as to the meaning of the music. This piece also provides a wonderful opportunity to introduce the musical understanding of a fugue. Well crafted and fun to perform!

Life has loveliness to sell, All beautiful and splendid things, Blue waves whitened on a cliff, Soaring fire that sways and sings, And children's faces looking up Holding wonder in a cup. Life has loveliness to sell, Music like a curve of gold, Scent of pine trees in the rain, Eyes that love you, arms that hold, And for your spirit's still delight, Holy thoughts that star the night. Spend all you have for loveliness, Buy it and never count the cost; For one white singing hour of peace Count many a year of strife well lost, And for a breath of ecstacy Give all you have been, or could be. --Barter from Love Songs (1918) by Sara Teasdale Sara Teasdale (1884-1933) was an American poet whose short, personal lyrics are noted for their classical simplicity and quiet intensity. Teasdale was born in St. Louis, Missouri and traveled to Chicago as a young woman, where she grew acquainted with Harriet Monroe and the literary circle around Poetry. Teasdale wrote seven books of poetry in her lifetime and received public admiration for her well-crafted lyrical poetry which centered on a woman's changing perspectives of beauty, love, life, and death. Christmas is a time for gratitude, a time for celebration and expectation! And it is a time for music! Songs of the season are everywhere around us, reminding us of the birth of the Savior, the anticipated coming of the Christ Child, the advent of the Messiah, and the JOY that is ours as believers. As followers of Christ, we have done more than just anticipate His coming; we have lived the reality of having received the Son of God into our hearts, of knowing Him as Savior, and worshipping Him as the King of kings and Lord of lords! And because of the wonderful gift of God’s Son, given to us, we not only hear the music of Christmas, we SING the song of Christmas, the Song of Joy! Songs both new and old, celebratory and worshipful, joy-filled and awe-inspired, soul-searching and soul-soothing, weave a tapestry of Christmas wonder that invites the believer to worship and rejoice in His presence, while offering Hope to the downtrodden and Salvation to the lost. In perhaps some of its most powerful moments, Song of Joy ushers the listener into the serene and peaceful strains of the beloved carol Silent Night! Holy Night!, followed by compelling narration leading to the poignant and reflective new song, Somewhere in Your Silent Night (made popular by Casting Crowns). That is followed by a song of invitation and worship with Crowder’s Come As You Are, encouraging the lost to come to Christ and give Him their heart. This song of invitation leads us into the declaration that He is the King of kings who will reign forever in the medley featuring Tomlin’s, He Shall Reign Forevermore, and Elevation Worship’s, Only King Forever.
