Franz Liszt Spanish Rhapsody Ernst-Günter Heinemann (Publisher) Franz Liszt (Fingering) Mária Eckhardt (Foreword) Urtext Edition, paperbound revised edition Liszt's piano rhapsodies belong to the tradition of her operatic transcriptions or lieder themes, while using folk dances and songs as a basic material. Completed in 1864, the Spanish Rhapsody is a late reminiscence of Liszt's long journey to Spain and Portugal in 1844/45. Based on two popular dance songs of Iberian tradition, the Folia and the Jota, Liszt lights here a fireworks of characteristic rhythms and timbres, provided with a virtuoso conclusion played in a presto tempo. The autograph of this composition, long inaccessible, is now visible again - which provides an opportunity for Éditions G. Henle to review its urtext edition.
