Karl Jenkins: Adiemus: Song of Sanctuary: Flexible Band: Score and Parts

Songs Of Sanctuary is an extended choral-type work based on the European classical tradition but where the vocal sound is more akin to 'ethnic' or 'world' music. The idea was to have some thematic unity within the work as a whole rather than a collection of disparate pieces in song form. This vocal score which includes the optional recorder part in the score is primarily intended for rehearsal use. However it is possible to make a convincing performance with voices and piano.

Originally written as a piece for a Delta Airlines television commercial the fusion of ethnic vocals and orchestral backing proved so popular with consumers that a full-length Adiemus album Songs of Sanctuary was created with the aid of vocalist Miriam Stockley and the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1995.
