Focusing on the lives of saints and other holy people, Journey of the Sacred is a series of books and music created to guide members of small faith communities on their own sacred journeys. Unlike many other guides of this kind, Journey of the Sacred incorporates music into each session with a pre-recorded CD for singing along to chosen hymns and songs. Each journey offers six sessions consisting of prayer, Scripture, writings by the particular saint or holy person, reflection, silence, sharing, and an experience by a modern-day person that ties into the session's theme. Each session also allows for a going forth in action for the group or individual. One book is needed for each member of the small faith community. One CD is needed for the entire group. Although created for small group sessions, this series also may be used for individual meditation. Journeys may be used in any order. Rosemary Bleuher is Associate Director for Adult Formation for the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois and is known nationally for her work in small faith communities. Denise La Giglia is a spiritual director, musician, and recording artist from the Chicago area. Rev. Dennis Paul is a priest of the diocese of Joliet and ministers at St. Mary Nativity.
