Georg Philipp Telemann Six Sonates pour deux flûtes de 1726, également connu sous le nom Flûte Duets Op.. 2, sont dédiés à deux jeunes mélomanes et, par conséquent, faire appel explicitement à un cercle d'élèves et d'amateurs de musique. Sonata in F major TWV 41:F4 - Sonata in A major TWV 41:A6-These three editions (BA 5880 BA 5889 BA 5890) each comprising two solo sonatas with basso continuo are all taken from Telemann’s famous Essercizii musici; a collection of 24 sonatas including 12 solo sonatas and 12 trio sonatas. These were moulded after Corelli’s Sonata da Chiesa and have four movements: slow-fast-slow-fast. The sonatas long thought to stem from the late 1730s are now believed to have first been published by the composer in approx. 1729. Georg Philipp Telemann's Six Sonatas for two Flutes of 1726 also known as Flute Duets Op. 2 are dedicated to two young music lovers and thus appeal explicitly to a circle of pupils and music lovers. The pieces foster the ability of musical interpretation as well as a playful love of music-making and are thus ideal for music lessons. The sonatas can alternatively be performed on the Violin. The new edition of the Wiener Urtext Edition is based on Telemann's original print as well as on two earlier editions which grant insight into the contemporary ornamentation practice. Further suggestions for the performance are given in the notes oninterpretation by Susanne Schrage. The layout of the new edition is clearly designed page-turns within individual movements have been avoided thanks to fold-out pages. Thus the proper foundation has been laid both for a historically informed performance and for relaxed music-making.

This is instructive and very enjoyable music for today’s flautists and violinists.Henle’s luxurious new publication offers a solo and basso-continuo part in which the twoinstrumental lines are aligned for orientation plus another part that gives only an unrealised (but figured) bass line. The Henle edition also includes a full score with a stylistically appropriate continuo realisation.
