Chopin wrote many Mazurkas. The Mazurka In D is one of the lesser-known examples.The Contredanse is written in the little-used key of G Flat Major. There remains controversy asto whether it was actually written by Chopin or not. If it was it was probably written c.1827 but it was never published during his lifetime. Frédéric Chopin (1710-1849) was a Polish composer andvirtuoso pianist whose compositional career was spent mostly in Paris. He only wrote music for the Piano and is best known today for his 12 Etudes and 24 Preludes a key part of any pianist s repertoire.
