The new millennium inspires curiosity, optimism, and fear of the unknown. Belgian composer Johan Nij composed Millennium Fear to capture the uncertainty of this monumental event. The piece combines dynamic sounds, feverish rhythms, and surprising sound textures in the dialogues between different instrument groups. The piece expresses the thoughts and feelings many have toward the new millennium. Der belgische Komponist Johan Nijs hat diesen Gefühlen mit dem Stück Millennium Fever stimmigen Ausdruck gegeben. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Feuerwerk bewegter Klänge, ein Zusammenspiel fiebernder Rhyhmen und unerwarteter Wendungen, worin verschiedene Instrumentengruppen miteinander dialogisiern. Le passage au troisième millénaire avait généré une certaine inquiétude, de la curiosité et même un certain optimisme. Dans Millennium Fever (“La fièvre du millénaire”), les sentiments oscillants deviennent un puissant tourbillon. Les rythmes, l’éclat et l’intensité des sons, associés un choix de notes inhabituel, traduisent la fébrilité de l’attente tandis qu’un dialogue très expressif se crée entre les différents groupes d’instruments, comme un dialogue entre les peuples pour un monde de paix.

Kaseko is an original style of music from Surinam. An unnamed Kaseko melody from the collection of Ronald Snijders is the starting point for Kaseko Fever. In his collection the piece was given the number A50, which nitially was also the title. The swinging melody was the arranger’s inspiration to produce this fantasy; the imaginative part of the conga drum is the driving force. Kaseko is een uit Suriname afkomstige muziekstijl. Een naamloze kaseko-melodie uit de verzameling van Ronald Snijders is het uitgangspunt voor Kaseko Fever. In de betreffende verzameling kreeg dit stuk het nummer A50, dat aanvankelijkook de titel was. De swingende melodie inspireerde de arrangeur tot het maken van deze fantasie, de originele congapartij is hierin de drijvende kracht.Kaseko ist ein originaler Musikstil, der seinen Ursprung in Surinam hat. Eine Kaseko-Melodie (anonymer Herkunft) aus der Sammlung von Ronald Snijders bildet den Ausgangspunkt zu Kaseko Fever. In der Sammlung wurde dem Stück die Nummer A50 gegeben, was zuerst auch als Titel diente. Die schwungvolle Melodie inspirierte den Komponisten zu dieser Fantasie. Treibende Kraft in diesem Stück für Akkordeonorchester ist die originelle Conga-Stimme. Le kaseko est un style de musique traditionnelle originaire du Surinam. Kaseko Fever est basé sur une mélodie kaseko anonyme, extraite d’un recueil de Ronald Snijders (pionnier du style), et intitulée l’origine A50. Le caractère dansant de la mélodie a séduit l’arrangeur qui s’en est inspiré pour la réalisation de cette fantaisie. My love is as a fever was inspired by William Shakespeare's sonnets. The work was created for the Faust Quartet with the aim of creating a counterpart to Alban Berg's Lyrical Suite using new compositional techniques, both in terms of emotional expression and technical requirements.
