Based on “Ritorni al nostro cor la bella pace” from Salustia by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736), “O Sing This Festive Day!” is a majestic opening number for school programs or church services. Incorporating optional hand drum and trumpet (parts are included in the choral), it is also a good supplement for music history studies. “O Sing This Festive Day!” gives singers an excellent taste of Baroque music without being difficult to learn.

In his own distinctive style, Robert van Beringen has composed a very unique fantasy on three themes by the famous Baroque composers Johann Sebastian Bach and George Friedrich Händel. Van Beringen used Bach’s chorale Brich an, o schönes Morgenlicht (‘Break forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light’) from his Christmas Oratorio and the recitative Behold, a Virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel, God with Us from Händel’s Messiah. A perfect way to say Merry Christmas in music!

The Carus Choir Coach offers choir singers the unique opportunity to study and learn their own, individual choral parts within the context of the sound of the entire choir and orchestra. For every vocal range a separate CD containing each choir part is available. The CD is based on recorded interpretations by renowned artists who have performed the work from carefully prepared Carus Urtext editions. Each choir part is presented in three different versions: - Original recording - Coach: each part is accompanied by the piano, with the original recording sounding in the background - Coach in slow mode: the tempo of the coach slows down to 70% of the original version - through this reduction passages can be learned more effectively. Bach's Christmas Oratorio is undeniably the number ONE in the Christmas repertoire of choirs as well as in popularity with audiences. The Christmas story, according to the Gospels of St. Luke and St. Matthew, combined with free poetry and individual chorale stanzas attains, together with the clearly structured, festive Baroque music, an eloquent radiance of timeless beauty. To confidently keep up with the frequent, sometimes very rapid sixteenth-coloraturas - for example in the herrliche Chore (no. 1), the Wohlgefallen (no. 21, Vivace!), and the Schnauben der stolzen Feinde (no. 54) - practicing with the Slow Mode of the app is particularly recommended. Score available separately - see item CA.3124800.

Set in a festive Baroque style, the anthem is a refreshing presentation of the angelic proclamation of Christ's birth. The contrasting middle section is a chorale-like setting of the text Peace on earth, good will from heaven before returning to the opening melody.

The Missa Beatissimae Virginis Maria was composed ca. 1758-1760, between the end of his tenure as a singer in the choir of St. Stephen's in Vienna and the beginning of his first position as violinist and music director for the Bishop of Grosswardein. The scoring of SATB (for soli as well as choir) and church trio was augmented by two trumpets (clarini) and timpani, as well as two trombones. The latter instruments double the alto and tenor voices in tutti passages but in the Et incarnatus est they are also employed in an obbligato role. On the one hand, as an early work this Mass is in the style of the festive baroque tradition, as practiced in south-German regions until the middle of the eighteenth century; on the other hand it already shows the subjective inspiration which distinguished it from many of the mass settings by Haydn's contemporaries. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.5030500.
