The purpose of this book is to give beginning musicians the opportunity to play together. Elementary piano players have few opportunities of being part of an ensemble which is both inspirational and fun. It will help develop aural awareness and other ensemble playing skills which can, all too often, be found lacking in performers who most frequently play and practise solo. These trios are playable by any player with 2-3 years? experience.Titles: Foreign Lands * Playing Tag * Milonga * Village Dance *Djibouti Spring.

At first sight, this publication appears to merely be a collection of pieces due to the lack of drier technical studies that are characteristic of tutors. Yet the selection of the works, their order according to the development of ensemble playing, and the advice towards technical realization included after the foreword - these all make this publication a tutor. The works form a cross-section of a longer period of the history of chamber music and offer an insight into the different methods of composition.Volume I contains easy chamber music from the Renaissance to Viennese Classicism for two violins and cello, in the first position. (In some works the 2nd violin part or others thecello part, respectively, can also be played on the viola.) The easier pieces can be played after two years of active instrumental study.

The volume of trios for advanced players mainly offers a selection from works of the most prominent and most popular composers (Bach, Händel, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven). Of special interest are extracts of Beethoven's variations composed on the famous theme of Mozart's Don Giovanni, Fughetta by Robert Schumann and Dream by the less well-known composer Benjamin Godard. The volumes in this new series contain duos, trios and quartets, their degree of difficulty ranging from easy through intermediate to advanced. Every piece is a transcription or an arrangement, since in editing the volumes our primary concern was toprovide a collection of valuable and interesting compositions, as freely variable as possible as regards instrumentation, for music school students and also for adults who make music for their own pleasure. The range and pitch of the parts enable theworks to be performed on any required or possible combination of the given instruments. The volume of trios for advanced players mainly offers a selection from works of the most prominent and most popular composers (Bach, Händel, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven). The range and pitch of the parts enable the works to be performed on any required or possible combination of the given instruments. With its opportunities for a wealth of instruments the volume of trios for intermediate studentsprovides joyful playing for a great variety of instrumentalists. The broad range of movements that can be played in numerous combinations of string, wind and percussion instruments spans from a Renaissance hit (Nola: Chi la gagliarda) through a cycle assembled from dance movements (Gavotte, Menuett, Bourrée, Passepied) of J. S. Bach's suites and classical favourites (Mozart and Beethoven) to 19th-century arrangements. This volume is recommended for more experienced music students and amateur instrumental players due to the range and pitch, as well as the degree of difficulty. Today, Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) is considered to be the last great harp player of Ireland and is surrounded by an almost mystical aura. Numerous anecdotes have been handed down which testify to a strong personality, a huge musical talent and enormous self-confidence. Unlike any other, he knew how to combine old Irish music with Italian Baroque music, thus creating a large number of compositions about 200 of which have survived. Beautiful pieces between folk and art music. 16 of them were selected by Patrick Pfoss and arranged for string trio. A separate viola part is also available - in case no violoncello is available.
