Britten's Te Deum In C is arranged for Treble (Soprano) solo SATB choir and Organ accompaniment.In preparing for publication the 1935 orchestral version of Britten's Te Deum in C it became clearthat there were a number of discrepancies between the manuscript and the original 193 vocal score. Some of these were minor: different articulation and dynamic markings something Britten was later very fussy about but perhapsleft unchanged on proof because of his relative inexperience at this stage of his career with the processes of music publishing. Others were more important: wrong pedal notes for example which Britten failed to notice on proof and which have been perpetuated in performances and recordings for nearly seventy years. These have been corrected in the new edition of the vocal score and in the orchestral score (Britten clearly used the published vocal scoreto prepare his orchestral version).The two versions have been made consistent in other details - rehearsal cues and bar numbers for example - since Britten intended choristers to use the vocal score to perform theorchestral version. This would have been an easy task for these is little discrepancy in essential details between versions (a rare departure occurs in bars 53 to 56 where the works 'Lord God of Sabaoth' are unaccompanied in theorchestral version but doubled by Organ in the original). Sustained Organ chords are often filled out with arpeggiated string writing while the spacing of chords is frequently much wider in the string version with melodiestransposed into different octaves.Although harmony in both versions is identical voice leading is sometimes altered in the latter to make it better suited to the idioms of the instruments concerned. So although inessence the two versions are the same the soundworld explored in each is quite distinct. This setting of the Te Deum was written for St Cecilia’s day in 1694 almost exactly a year before the composer’s death. Composed in a highly flamboyant style it was originally scored for adult and boy choirs soloists strings bass and trumpets but has been scored here for SSAATB soli SSATB chorus and Piano accompaniment. It was edited by the organist of Westminster Abbey J. F. Bridge for a bicentennial commemoration in 1895 at which time the 18th century changes were replaced and the original version restored. The Latin text was provided by the musicologist R. R. Terry.Henry Purcell (1659-1695) held numerousappointments at the Royal court and Westminster Abbey and is considered by many to be the greatest ever English-born composer. His prolific work covered all fields: orchestral ecclesiastical operatic theatrical incidental and chamber music were all enriched by his output.

Par BRUCKNER ANTON. Anton Bruckner's Te Deum - a high point in the composer's output and one of the most important works of the sacred choral repertoire in the 19th century - is now available in a modern, scholarly edition. The Carus edition draws on both the two sources regarded as important, the autograph score and the first printed edition, with careful consideration given to variant readings. And so a music text has been prepared which reflects the composer's intentions as closely as possible. Great emphasis has been placed on a clear-to-read layout of the full score pages, as well as excellent legibility for the parts, which are available on sale. With current performance practice in mind, the clarinet parts are notated in B flat instead of A, corresponding with the first printed edition. Handel’s Utrecht Te Deum (HWV 278) received its first performance in St Paul’s Cathedral on 7 July 1713 during the celebrations for the Treaty of Utrecht. It is among his first compositions for the Anglican Church and accordingly he set the words of the Te Deum an ancient ecclesiastical hymn of obscure origins in English translation (‘We praise thee O God’).
