Cypresses

The collection of twelve pieces for String Quartet Cypresses is a loose paraphrase of the original cycle of love songs bearing the same name which Dvorak produced when he was twenty-four. Later on he re-wrote some of the songs and incorporated them into other song cycles; he took a larger selection and recreated them in 1887 as lyrical miniatures for string quartet. Cypresses in this form less still the original song version were never published during the composer's lifetime. This pocket score was published as part of the first Complete Critical Edition of Works by Antonin Dvorak. Also available set ofparts H6663.

Songs II for High Voice and PianoFollowing the publication of Dvorák’s early set of love songs “Cypresses” (BA9569) all his other songs with piano accompaniment are now appearing in Urtext editions.“Songs II” includes the mature works from Dvorák’s late period. Besides the well-known cycle “Love Songs” and the less well-known cycle “Three Modern Greek Songs” the volume also contains some entirely unknown and previously unpublished pieces: “Lullaby” and the posthumously published “Song from The Smith of Lešetín” completedby Josef Suk.The songs are presented in chronological order in volumes for high and low voice. Each volume contains the vocal text underlaid in three languages (Cz/Eng/Ger). For the most part the translations have been taken from the first edition.- Second volume of the new five-volume Urtext edition of the complete songs- First Urtext edition with detailed Foreword (Cz/Eng/Ger) and Critical Commentary (Eng) by the editor- Some songs appear for the first time in print- Vocal texts in three languages (Cz/Eng/Ger)

On December 18th, 2004 three of today's most talented flatpicking guitar players Brad Davis, Tim May, and Cody Kilby got together and performed a concert near Kansas City, Kansas, and Flatpicking Guitar Magazine had cameras rolling. On that night at Jim Curley's Mountain Music Shoppe in Shawnee, Kansas, the crowd was not only treated to some amazing guitar work, but these talented musicians also put on an awesome multi-instrument, singing, and songwriting display. The three perform as a trio, pair up in various duo configurations, and perform solo. Each artist brings some of his original material to the stage, but they also get together to tear up a few standard flatpicking numbers. It is something you don't want to miss!
