Karl Kohaut (1726 - 1784) was an Austrian lutenist and composer of Czech descent considered to be one of the last important composers of music for Baroque lute. Although also a violinist active in the Viennese music scene he was most well-known as a lutenist. He composed a total of seven lute concertos during his lifetime including this Concerto in F Major No. 2 (not to be confused with his Concerto in F Major No. 1 which is considered the most popular) in three movements: Allegro moderato Andante molto and Tempo di Minuetto. In this edition Victor Van Puijenbroeck has created a piano reduction of the orchestral score and also has adapted the lute part to be played onguitar. Included are parts for both lute (the part has been adapted from lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto). Klavierauszug-The Romance for Violin and Orchestra No. 1 in G major was written in 1802 and published in 1803 as opus 40 while the earlier Romance for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 in F major was written in1798 but not published until 1805 as opus 50 leading to some confusion as to the actual chronology. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 1827) was a German composer and pianist and arguably the most famous composer ofall time. He was the last great figure of the Classical era and helped pave the way for the Romantic style that followed. Written in 1803 by Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) this Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major is a classical piece of the Trumpet repertoire. Composed in the spirit of Mozart and initially for the keyed-Trumpet it was re-discovered in 1958 by a Yale student after 150 years of inertia due to the obsolescence of the instrument for which it was made. This edition offers a transposition in E-flat Major (initially in E Major) adapted to the instruments in use today. The other instruments to be involved in this concerto are a Flute two Oboes two Clarinets two Bassoons two Horns Timpani and Strings. Hummel?s Trumpet Concerto begins with an orchestra onlyfirst movement in a sonata theme which is repeated with the inclusion of the soloist. This Allegro Spirito sounds reminiscent of the Haffner Symphony (No. 35 in D Major) by Mozart but distinguished itself by a second theme. The second movement Andante is more melodic with the trumpet which holds long notes. Finally the Rondo offers a blissful and bright end to the Concerto. Former student of Mozart Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) was a brilliant composer pianist conductor and teacher. Evolving at the same period as Beethoveen he became as famous as him and wrote numerous concertos (for Piano Oboe Trumpet Violin and others) operas and some wind music pieces.

Mozart?s concertos for Violin and Orchestra belong to that elite group of works determining a Violin players abilities; they are elegant and transparent with demanding passage-work. The Concerto In D Major K.2 271a the ?6th? Mozart Violin concerto has come down to us in two separate sources a French set of parts and score copy as well as a Berlin score. The editorial board of the New Mozart Edition considers this concerto to be of doubtful authenticity. There are however many musicologists who feel that the work has numerous Mozart attributes.This new publication takes both the above mentioned sources into account andincludes the cadenzas from the respective New Mozart Edition volume appendix although these are certainly not from Mozart's pen.- The ?6th? Concerto No.2 'Haydn' A series of works based on the surviving two bars of Haydn's 'lost' Double Bass Concerto. Based on the two surviving bars of Haydn's 'lost' Double Bass Concerto and dedicated to David Heyes, this magnificent new concerto is a tour-de-force from a respected and leading Czech bassist-composer. In a tonal and accessible style, there are musical and technical challenges for the advanced bassist and this edition is only available in solo tuning. Influenced by the late 18th-century style, but imbued with Czech lyricism and influences, this new three-movement concerto is a major addition to the repertoire and utilises the entire range of the double bass. The concerto has been performed throughout Europe many times, most recently in Macedonia and Serbia by the composer. Miloslav Gajdos has composed and transcribed many works for double bass in a 40 year career and is Professor of Double Bass at the Vejvenovsky Conservatoire in Kromeriz (Czech Republic) alongside many international recitals and masterclasses. Performance Level: Advanced Miloslav Gajdos is one of Europe's most active and inventive bassist-composers. He was born in northern Moravia in 1948 and initially learned violin before transferring to the double bass, studying with Alois Kriz, Jiri Bortlicek and Ludwig Streicher. He has been Professor of Double Bass at the Vejvenovsky Conseravtoire in Kromeriz (Czech Republic) since 1971, and was a member of the Olomouc Symphony Orchestra for a number of years. He is Director of the Gregora International Double Bass Competition, founded in 1979 and held every two years in Kromeriz, and has been a juror at many competitions in Hungary, Germany and the Czech Republic. Miloslav Gajdos is a prolific composer and arranger and, for almost 40 years, has produced a vast body of original works and transcriptions for double bass which are performed worldwide. His original works combine Czech lyricism and melody with brilliant technical demands, and music from one to sixteen double basses. He writes in a traditional and accessible style, producing music for every level of performer, particularly for the advanced bassist, and his many works for unaccompanied double bass are frequently chosen as international competition repertoire. Miloslav Gajdos was Recital Music's Featured Composer in 2007 and has recently revised a number of earlier works for the intermediate bassist which will be published by Recital Music.
