Violin Concerto In G major is considered to be the earliest of Joseph Haydn s Violin concertos and was apparently written before he was taken into the service of the Esterházy family. It was firstpublished a century after the Austrian composer s death in 1909 and was little known before. The concerto is lovely and ingratiating to the ear consisting of 3 movements (Allegro moderato Adagio andAllegro) with a total performance time of under 20 minutes. The unmatched intimacy and loveliness of the uniquely beautiful Adagio and the high spirited final movement with its charming Bagpipe imitation will putplayers and audiences alike in the best of moods from the outset. This Urtext edition provides you with a clear and accurate representation of the composer's original intentions. The Orchestra part is reduced to a Pianoaccompaniment and two copies of the Violin score which is identical to that of the Haydn-Gesamtausgabe are enclosed as separate inserts. A preface in German English and French by editor Günter Thomas is included as well.
