The band strikes up the circus march for the entrance of the artistes—the audience waits expectantly…Between the Opening March and the Grand Finale the packed audience is presented with a colourful programme: courageous acrobats, comical clowns, oriental belly dancers, knife-throwers and snake charmers appear one after the other.Circus Time is also available for flute, clarinet and alto saxophone (in the same sounding key). This opens up all sorts of choices: musicians can take turns to perform or build a real circus band, or even—with the help of scenery and props—put on a proper circus performance. There is no end of possibilities!Theaccompanying CD contains demo and play-along version of all the pieces. Alternatively the chord symbols (written in concert pitch) above the music staff can be used for a live accompaniment by guitar and/or keyboard. Bruno the Bear refuses to appear on stage, his assistant, Bella Stella, has disappeared, and finally, even the tiger escapes! Circus director Ricardo Grande has to improvise constantly. Luckily, his new assistant, clumsy August the Clown, always has a brilliant idea just at the right time. Despite all mishaps, the audience gets to experience a splendid circus evening. And in the middle of all the excitement, the tiger and Bella suddenly reappear. The audience is swept off its feet. “French composer, Pierre Max Dubois (1930-1995) significantly contributed to the wind repertoire. Circus Parade Duo for Alto Saxophone or Clarinet and Drums was published in 1965 and remains prominent as a more unusual addition to the ensemble repertoire. Dubois' music is characteristically light-hearted with unusual harmonic and melodic textures. Circus Parade Duo reflects Dubois' compositional characteristics with a typical performance lasting about fifteen minutes. Dubois' work is suitable for advanced performers, addressing virtuosic features, such as complex rhythms, constant changes of time signature, chromaticism, and exploitation of the ensemble, amongst other aspects. Circus Parade Duo is essential to the advanced Alto Saxophone, Clarinet and Percussion repertoire as Dubois' work makes for an exciting, varied and enjoyable performance for players and audiences alike.&rdquo.
