Audio Magazine: The performances are expert, and the sound—which ranges from single wind instrument solos to a full band replete with thundering timpani and bass drum that can be felt through a subwoofer—is as good as it gets. There’s a remarkable combination of presence and stage depth. Fanfare Magazine: The group is in a class all its own...Hats off to them...If you don’t respond to the music or to the performances (I’m sorry for you, if that’s the case), surely the audiophile-worthy engineering will get you. Corporon and his Wind Symphony present a consistently high level of musicianship and professionalism. —American Record Guide May/June 2012.

Sparingly scored, these miniatures are full of surprise and delight. The work consists of nine short sections played continuously. In Mixture 1 Incantation, linear counterpoint for high woodwind and low strings is interspersed by distinctive brass figures and percussion motives. A brief Solo for double bass leads into Interlude 1 where harmonic writing is broken by short woodwind fragments before Duet where a simple rhythmic cell is developed by the brass instruments. Mixture 2 Exultation alternate block chords with active rhythmic activity. The Trio for flute, clarinet and percussion is followed by Interlude 2 where woodwind and string counterpoint is interrupted by static chords. After a short Quartet for trumpet and strings, Mixture 3 Apotheosis combines the techniques of the earlier movements. An original and rewarding work.

There are three movements in this Concerto. Lively, with humor contrasts the opening material featuring the high register of the saxophone with a more bluesy second theme in the lower part. Serenade follows with a sort of South Seas rhythm-and-blues atmosphere. Shimmy tosses itself between a jazz-type “head†with what customarily follows versus a 1960s early-rock-style hymn with 1930s echoes. These two things together grow into an apotheosis, ending the concerto.

30-minute suite for orchestral with female chorus from Khachaturian's celebrated ballet, Spartacus (1955). Scene 9 presents the culmination of the drama, to music strongly reminiscent of Khachaturian's Cello Concerto: Spartacus – among treacherous pirates – faces the apparent collapse of the rebellion, and his death is followed by a powerful yet relatively restrained Requiem with chorus, followed by a stirring apotheosis. Performance materials available on hire. Suitable for advanced standard performers.

Danse vive was written in 1939 and had its first performance, as did most works of this time, as mentioned by the composer, in the famous occupation Art Salon at Ulica Nowy wiat 27 in Warsaw, led by Boles aw Woytowicz. Lech Miklaszewski made the first archival recording of the piece for Polish Radio in September 1946. After a long period of obscurity, Danse Vive appeared unexpectedly during the inaugural concert of the VII International Festival of Contemporary Music, Warsaw Autumn, on 21st September 1963. W adys aw K dra, after performing Tadeusz Szeligowskis Piano Concerto with the Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio conducted by Jan Krenz, played Kisielewskis piece as an encore. Mieczys aw Tomaszewski in conversation with Joanna Pruszy ska defines Danse Vive as Toccata 41. Indeed - the free, almost improvised form, the figurative texture and at the same time the uniform lines inlaid with sforzandi syncopated rhythms (although changing time signatures several times) give the composition such a nature. But at the same time Danse Vive can be described as an apotheosis of a Krakowiak, a lively, Galician dance, whose full theme at 44 is shown only once in the piece, after a thickening, figurative outset, not at all reminiscent of folk melodies. [M. G siorowska, Kisielewski, PWM 2011].

This three-movement symphony musically depicts the history of Hungary. Key historical figures, wars and other important events from this country inspired all three movements. The first movement depicts Atilla, the King of the Huns, and is characterised by fear, threat and aggression. The second movement focuses on Ãrpád, the founder of the Hungarian State and the final movement is named after István, the King who introduced Christianity into Hungary. The beautiful theme of the national hymn appears throughout the symphony, however it is often partially hidden. It is used as a â??thread,â? hardly recognizable at the beginning, becoming more and more obvious near the end and itconcludes the symphony as the â??final apotheosis,â? making the band sound like a majestic living organ.
