The Third Symphony occupies an special place in the evolutionary process of Szymanowskis style. The Symphony The Song of the Night, Op. 27, is a setting of the poem of the same title, from the second divan of Mawlana Jalal-ad-din Rumi, for tenor solo, mixed choir and orchestra. It was completed in the summer 1916. Szymanowskis interest in oriental music at this period is not so much , as far as the Third Symphony is concerned, an attempt at some formal stylisation of eastern music, but rather an indication of his search for some mode of expression which would best reflect the conflicts of his aesthetic and artistic ideas. It was the direct contact made with the art of the Grecian and Arabic worlds during his travel to Sicily and North Africa in 1911 and 1914 that provided the external stimulus for this interest. The Third Symphony can be classed with those symphonies for chorus and solo voices so often favoured by the neo-romantic and expressionist composers. It is written in a free ternary form, the thematic material being the basic unifying structural element, which imparts a conciseness to the form, and retaining the function despite the significant changes that occur in the melodic character of the music. The texture is polymelodic, and a score reveals a masterly interweaving of the multiplicity of parts, melodic lines and patterns of sound. This symphony is consummation of all Szymanowskis mastery in instrumentation and colour, and a superb study of orchestral polyphony. Here, Szymanowski liberates himself from the rigid relations of the functional harmonic system. In the place of tonal progressions, he shifts chromatically from one sound lane to another, of which the smallest units are chords made up of tritones and seconds, using only a free intervallic structure, far more remote in Szymanowski from the dominant centralistic harmony then Debussy. In style, the Third Symphony belongs to the neo-romantic period, if this can be broadly defined as including modernistic and expressionistic trends, and to musical impressionism. Llio was composed during Berlioz's stay in Italy in 1831. In April of that year he set out from Rome, where he held a scholarship as winner of the Prix de Rome, and travelled as far as Nice on hearing that his fiancee Camille Moke had rejected him in favour of another suitor. He had intended to return to Paris to exact revenge, but then he abandoned his plan and instead spent three weeks in Nice, returning in stages to Rome. On this return journey he conceived the idea of a semi-theatrical work that combined music and monologues to express the idea of returning to life after a profound traumatic experience. The composition was finished in Rome in Iune 1831. In the spring of 1832, while staying with his parents in Dauphin, Berlioz copied the orchestral and vocal parts, and the work was first performed in conjunction with the Symphonie fantastique at the Paris Conservatoire on 9 December 1832. It was heard again three weeks later and again on 3 May 1835. While designated as the second part of the Episode in the Life of an Artist, Lelio can never- theless be performed on its own, without the Symphonie fantastique to precede it.

The four choral settings in this edition from Jean Sibelius's Op. 18, in the original six settings for male choir, were arranged for mixed choir by Sibelius himself. While Sortunut aani Op. 18,1 and Saarella palaa Op. 18,4 were first published in this version in a choral collection in 1898, Venematka Op. 18,3 was only arranged by Sibelius in 1904 for a summer class and Sydameni laulu Op. 18,6 another ten years later as a reaction to an unauthorized arrangement. In the long and changeful history of the collection Op. 18, its contents were extended, revised and repositioned many times. The four current settings are all those that are also present in the final version of Op. 18 for male choir and of which there are original arrangements.The texts for Sortunut aani (The Broken Voice), Venematka (Boat Trip) and Saarella palaa (Fire on the Island) stem from the Finnish national epics Kalevala and Kanteletar, while the text of Sydameni laulu (Song of My Heart) stems from the poet Aleksis Kivi, but refers to the Kalevala, too. The edition includes translations of the texts in German and English as well as an informative preface that is based on the complete edition Jean Sibelius Works, just like the score.

Dedicated to the Chapel Master at Rouen Cathedral, Sir Canon Delestre, this piece is highly lyrical and melodious. Written in Latin, its tempo is quite slow (52) and it includes numerous harmonies as well as some short exchanges between the voices. The polytonal aspects are probably the most difficult part of the singing and the actual title means ??Hail, True Body??, the main lyrics glorify Jesus. Another music setting of this hymn was composed by Mozart. Pierre Villette (1926-1998) was a French composer of choral and instrumental music. Strongly influenced by Catholicism, his musical heritage ran from Fauré to Messiaen.andrdquo.
