Allegro

The Sonata is one of Erkin's works which the casual listener may fail to attribute to a particular geography at a first hearing. He will however become absorbed by a unique sense of identity, surprising harmonies and rhythms which integrate with such sincerity and authenticity in the flow of the music. At a more attentive hearing, one can discover features of ancient Anatolian music which Erkin always transforms with extraordinary inspiration, enfolding audiences unfamiliar with this culture in a music which is often profoundly spiritual with an admirably woven polyphonic texture in which not one bar seems superfluous or out of place. The first movement Allegro is woven from two contrasting themes. The first is a vigorous progression in the middle register with contrapuntal elements quasi as counterpoint. A luminous second theme evoking folk tunes connects back to the first theme and the movement ends in a brisk tone. In the second movement Adagio molto sostenuto a profound, introspective first theme is developed in variations of exquisite lyricism. The imposing middle section which forms a rondo suggests latent unrest. Imbued with energy and determination, the final Allegro consists of abstracted elements of Anatolian folk music bearing the creative stamp of Erkin. Historical information about Händel's Water Music Suites is limited, but certainly these works were intended for two, possibly three, parties given by King George I on the Thames River, London, between 1715 and 1736. Händel and his orchestra played on a barge. Since then the some twenty-two separate original pieces have been organized into three Suites and nicknamed 'Water Music?, each having a separate key and likely corresponding to these river parties. This transcription of Water Music Suite II for saxophone quartet has two purposes: to make this music available to saxophonists for performance and education, and to provide in one volume the entire Suite II. The exception to the latter, because of the limits of endurance, is the exclusion of the short Adagio, a brief interlude between the fi rst two movements. Included though are the Allegro, Hornpipe, Minuet, Lentement, and Bourree. These works were originally meant for an outdoor performance, and one of the original intentions of the saxophone was to play in French military bands, also an open-air purpose. The original scoring of brass, woodwind, and string instruments (but no continuo) transcribe well for saxophones. Matching the ranges of instruments of the original to the saxophone quartet was a primary objective. In addition, this arrangement strives to disperse melodic material to all four saxophones so as to make the arrangement pleasing to all the members of the quartet while providing variety to an audience. Any dynamic, articulation, and tempo markings are to be taken only as suggestions so as to allow interpretation by the performers. The musical study and performance of all styles while using examples of composition and performance that represent excellence is necessary for saxophonists who wish to be well-rounded musicians. For the above reasons saxophonists are urged to listen to recordings of the original orchestration in order to learn and imitate proper interpretation of Baroque style. There are currently a number of excellent recordings of Handel's Suites on period instruments, such as (but not limited to) those by conductors John Eliot Gardiner, Christopher Hogwood, and the ensemble Tafelmusik. Composed by Joseph Edouard Barat Andante Et Allegro is a piece for Trombone and Piano dedicated to H. Couillaud a Conservatoire professor. Quite difficult this piece would be perfect for recitals and contest and can be played by advanced players. Starting slowly the first half of the piece evolves into a Piu vivo part. The second half of the work is a rapid Allegro theme (tempo 144-152) followed by a slower part and the Allegro theme played again “a tempo” before introducing the close in harmonies. Joseph Edouard Barat (1882-1963) composed numerous pieces for Wind instruments and Pianoaccompaniment such as 'Andante and Allegro' or 'Introduction and Dance' among many others.

for Bassoon and Piano-Gabriel Grovlez (1879-1944) studied under Gabriel Fauré at the Paris Conservatoire. His compositions proved to be extremely versatile from Operas and Ballets to solo works. Grovlez's Sicilienne Et Allegro Giocoso is a sublime addition to the Bassoon repertoire. Much of the composer's works show neo-classical features which is also the case inSicilienne Et Allegro Giocoso where the texture is predominantly melody dominated homophony cadences are frequently heard and modulations to related keys occur despite tonality being interestingly exploited.Grovlez's C minor Sicilienne is unusual in style as it is composed in common time yet the triplets and sextuplets in the Bassoon part provide the 'tarantella feel' required of the musical genre. This is superbly contrasted by the quirky Allegro Giocoso (fast and cheerful) composed in the relative major. All these features make for an enjoyable and delightful performance!

La finalité de cette création serait mi-pédagogique, mi-commerciale d’où l’objet de son surnom.Cette pièce a trois mouvements : Allegro, Andante et Rondo-allegretto. Elle débute par un allegro sur un tempo assez allant avec une basse appelée basse d’Alberti en rythme de croche, se déployant tout au long du mouvement. La structure du premier mouvement est une forme sonate. La mélodie comporte deux sujets sur la tonique et à la réexposition se présente le thème sur la sous-dominante.
