Celebrate HM The Queen's 90th Birthday with your choir Sing Judith Weir's special new choral piece I Love All Beauteous Things Master of the Queen's Music, Judith Weir, has been commissioned by St Paul's Cathedral in London to write a piece for SATB choir and organ in celebration of HM The Queen's 90th birthday in 2016. The piece is now available from Chester Music, so that choirs all over the world can join in with the festivities. Churches and other local organisations are planning events on Sunday 12th June and many may want to include this approachable setting of Robert Bridges' poem. Directed by Andrew Carwood, the St Paul's Cathedral Choir will perform I love all beauteous things as part of the National Service of Thanksgiving which will take place on at 11am on 10 June in the presence of HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. At the service the Archbishop of Canterbury will give the address and the Prime Minister will read a lesson. The event will be televised live on BBC1. Judith Weir comments: 'It is a particular honour to contribute new music for this great occasion, and a pleasure to write a choral version of Robert Bridges' beautiful verse.' Bridges was an outstanding humanitarian and writer, whose poetry has inspired me before in The Voice of Desire, a song-cycle for mezzo-soprano and piano. This short, fast-tempo setting aims to emulate the swift, fleet-footed rhyme and metre of the two-verse poem, with its unobtrusive but telling reference to 'man in his hasty days'. J.W. The Four Last Things for Clarinet Percussion and Cello. Composed 2014 published 2016. Score included in UYMP's Firewheel Anthology (ISMN M-57036-615-6) recorded by Dark Inventions. Duration: 8 minutes. The Four Last Things takes its title from Hieronymus Bosch’s painting ‘The Seven Deadly Sins and The Four Last Things’ a work of art that depicts its religious subject matter in the visceral style associated with its artist. Bosch’s work has always fascinated me: its detail immediacy and sometimes grotesque subject matter keep me coming back to it. There is no direct parallel with the painting in this piece but inspiration has been taken from the manner in which Bosch juxtaposes images whilst creating consistency and continuity between individual parts. The simultaneous discreteness and dependency of separate elements is mirrored in the treatment here of instruments as both soloists and part of the group. Each player has moments of overt dominance but even whilst providing more of an accompanying role they still present material that is striving to be heard above the rest. featuring Texts of Pablo Neruda Craig Hella Johnson Choral Series-Cary Ratcliff's charming and refreshing oratorio Ode To Common Things is a setting of poetry by Chilean writer Pablo Neruda who over the course of his life wrote odes to ordinary everydayobjects five of which were chosen for the Ratcliff setting. Starting with the percussive Ode to Things the music sweeps through many moods moving into a deep and emotional Ode to the Bed and the reflectiveOde to the Guitar. The final two movements Ode to Scissors and Ode to Bread complete the connection to everyday life. For SATB divisi chorus soloists with Piano reduction. Orchestra available onrental.

Pied Beauty-This setting of Gerard Manley Hopkins’s poem Pied Beauty was commissioned by the Rev Jim Bates Vicar of Kingston for the service in Kingston Parish Church celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The first performance was given by the combined choirs of the Kingston Parish Church and Twickenham Choral Society on the 2nd June 2002. A good proportion of the text is reflective or descriptive – it winds through a number of examples of dappled things with suitably celebratory music: ‘skies of couple-colour’ ‘rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim’ ‘fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls’ and so on winding down toa centrally peaceful section in which Hopkins writes of ‘all things counter original spare strange’ before returning to the celebratory mood. This grand anthem would be suitable for intermediate to advanced choirs to perform particularly at festival services and important church occasions.

Commissioned and premiered by the Santa Fe Desert Chorale Dappled Things celebrates those things that are dappled that is blemished in some way. A hymn-like structure featuring note-clusters representing the sound of light filtering through leaves and two soloists. Truly a special composition worth the challenge. J. Harold Moyer's works for the Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus are always eagerly anticipated and exciting to hear. Moyer seems to infuse the joy of music into every note and this new anthem is no exception. “Glorious Thingsof Thee Are Spoken” is a well-loved hymn praising the majesty and glory of God which has been triumphantly arranged for male chorus and brass quintet.

The Latin phrase 'majora canamus' (so let us sing of greater things) is blended with an original text. The music is bright and joyous and will work equally well as a call to worship or anthem. Duration: ca. 3:35.

Why didn't anyone think of this before? Two favorite hyms combine perfectly to create this tuneful inspired look at God's creation. A wonderful work -- appropriate for use any time during the church year. 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' and 'For the Beauty of the Earth ' arr. Michael Larkin.
