As a notable Flute player Marcel Moyse (1889-1984) studied at the Paris Conservatoire under the direction of virtuoso flautists Paul Taffanel Adolphe Hennebains and Philippe Gaubert. His accomplishment on the instrument soon established itself on paper with the composer producing many study and exercise books for the Flute. This includes the acclaimed 25 Études Mélodiques. The compilation covers aspects such as articulation ornamentation range and rhythm in the form of moderately difficult variations. Furthermore with notes in French English German Spanish and Japanese this Moyse study book isdistinctly versatile. Marcel Moyse was responsible for the training of a gifted generation of performers and so it is no surprise that his 25 Études Mélodiques has been crucial to the progress of advanced Flute studies.

The Viennese triumvirate Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn does not include Schubert despite the wealth of music he composed in his short life. His early Romantic style juxtaposes lyrical melodies with exciting drama throughout his compositions. Marcel Moyse)-Number 80 of the collection 'Classics for Flute' by Marcel Moyse Minuet Of Mr. Duport is a piece initially composed by Mozart and arranged for Flute and Piano accompaniment. The main theme starts with a Tempo di Minuetto which is then followed by four variations and a final part Allegro ending up with a Cadenza. Quite amazing this piece is difficult to play and will fit upper intermediate players. It is a great piece to listen to that would definitely work well in a concert or in a recital.
