The sonatas are not grouped according to their degree of difficulty, they are given in the order which corresponds with the Kirkpatrick nimbering. This is approximately identical with the order in which they were composed. In this way it became possible for the pairs of sonatas included in the selection to be placed closely after one another. Apart from inevitable minor alterations this edition follows the original text and its markings exactly. This does not apply to the fingering which is entirely an editorialaddition. (In the original there is no fingering.) The Richard Wagner Complete Edition presents the composer's entire output for the first time in a reliable form. The conductor Michael Balling, in the early years of the 20th century, attempted to make Wagner's work more accessible for research and performance, but the edition only reached 10 volumes - some with grave shortcomings - and was discontinued after Balling's death in 1925. A further attempt at a complete edition by Otto Strobel was abandoned at the preliminary stages. This third attempt at a complete edition will be the first scholarly, critical edition, based on an evaluation of all the accessible source materials and the latest findings of serious Wagner research. As the edition is also intended for practical performance, the musical text has been kept free of philological insertions; these are listed in the appendices of each volume in the Critical Commentary. Numerous, partly unpublished works - some relatively unknown - and variant versions are published here for the first time. The edition presents authentic texts for Wagner specialists and researchers and critically based performing materials. Contrary to widely held opinions, even the well-known works of Wagner are not necessarily available in reliable editions. The genesis, history and performances directed by Wagner himself are extensively documented so as to present as complete an image as possible of Wagner's compositional intentions.

The trio sonata is regarded as one of the core chamber music genres of the 17th and 18th centuries. Corelli remains to this day its best-known exponent, but also before and after him there was a multitude of exceptional works in the genre that remain largely unknown today. This two-volume catalogue raisonné has finally brought these treasures to light. Thanks to support from the Balzan Foundation and the University of Zurich, this catalogue now offers the first-ever bibliography of the genre. It encompasses all the published trio sonatas of the 17th and 18th centuries, and also provides detailed information on sources and works, plus introductory commentaries. This printed catalogue will be complemented by an online database with enhanced search functions that will enable both scholars and practising musicians to explore this fascinating repertoire. When Weber offered the sonatas for violin and piano to the publisher Andre von Offenbach in 1810, the latter refused to print them because they were 'too good and demanding'. In order to reach as large a target group of music-making amateurs as possible, editors at that time increasingly selected only easily playable works. Fortunately, these sonatas nevertheless found their way into the repertoire. This is a practical edition in two volumes based on the text of the Weber Complete Edition.

This new, completely revised and reset centenary edition of Satie’s complete piano music in three volumes has returned to Satie’s manuscripts and first editions to give pianists completely accurate and reliable texts to play from.As well aspresenting every piece for piano solo or piano reduction that Satie published, this edition also includes some previously unknown pieces, like the Petite Sonate that he wrote for Vincent d’Indy at the Schola Cantorum, as well as some interestingfirst versions of well-known pieces, like San Bernardo, a trial version of Españaña (1913) and the markedly different first version of Les Pantins dansent (1914). In addition, there areexamples of the different types of exercises that Satie completedat the Schola between 1905 and 1912, some extra trial Enfantines, and some earlier drafts of his famous Sports et divertissements. To help pianists, suggested metronome marks have been added throughout, and there are also some performance suggestionsfor the Rose+Croix pieces of the 1890s, which otherwise appear to be all quiet and slow. The notation has been made as user-friendly as possible, without detracting from Satie’s concerns about the “extériorisation” of his musical thought in print.

Sonatinas form a vital part of the teaching material for beginner and intermediate piano students. Compared to the great classic piano sonatas, they are technically and musically simpler and typically shorter. However, they still convey the basic elements of Classical style: the relation of melody to accompaniment, articulation, stylistically authentic playing, and correct interpretation. For the two volumes of Giraffe Piano, the most favoured and instructive of the sonatinas have been chosen. Volume 1 contains simpler pieces and Volume 2 is compromised of moderately difficult ones. Correct interpretation of the pieces is facilitated by added performance and fingeringmarks. Learning is helped along by clear presentation of the score, carefully placed page turns, and by inspiration from colour images showing the keyboard instruments of the 1720-1820 period for which the pieces were written. The most notable of them is the giraffe piano, after which the collection is named.
